I have a 6 week old kitten I took in and litter box training has been tough. He seems to have a hard time… getting to the box. I have found poop on the floor right next to the boxes several times, usually in the morning after I wake up. During the day when he needs to use the bathroom he will cry and pace, I assume because he can’t find the box. I will then bring him to the box and he will get in and go. However, this can also go sour. I have caught him getting out of the box and then either poop some more on the floor or pee on the floor. Why does he get out and then go to the bathroom some more on the floor? Another thing, is he hasn’t quite figured out how to bury his business, which doesn’t concern me so much but today while he was attempting to bury it, he stepped in his own poop and got feces on his fur. My guy reaction was to bring him to the sink and rinse his foot off but now I worry that I just punished him and ruined everything! I even just got some “kitten attract” litter to get him to go in the box and STAY in the box until he is finished. I’m just really nervous about him never learning and I might have to rehome him. Any help is so so appreciated.
