sorry about that Lina.. there appeared to be a double post so I deleted one but it deleted both your posts then so I’m posing again for you..

Hello everyone. I recently (about 3 weeks ago) rescued a 5 week old kitten. Named him Earl Greyson. He’s been extremely playful and happy until last night. He fell asleep on the sofa next to me and I noticed he wasn’t himself. In the morning he didn’t want to eat or drink water. So I took him to the vet and he was checked for FeCv and FIV and heartworms… All negative. He was running a fever of 105. The vet gave him a water bubble under his skin for slight dehydration. She (the vet) also prescribed biomox. When I brought him home he went straight to his food bowl and ate a small amount but still wouldn’t drink water. So I manually fed him water with a dropper. I gave him the first dose of biomox. He’s been sleeping most of the day, I wake him up to eat and go potty. He’s still really lethargic and not his playful self. I was wondering how long does it normally take before I see signs of improvement? Thanks in advance for any input.

welcome Lina sorry about the post edit mix up ….

sorry to hear your little fella isn’t feeling well.. hydration is very important so that’s when the vet have him what is called Sub-Q fluids under the skin.

I’d you feed him dry food I would stop, for now at least. if a cats is dehydrated dry food really inst a good option especially if he’s slow to drink on his own. cats that eat dry food need lots of water. if he’s on wet food then I would add water to his wet food that way when he eats a little he gets the water too.. I can’t highly recommend enough to get your hands on some goats milk ASAP it helps to settle an upset stomach and is pretty irresistible to cat so that might encourage him to drink on his own.. also very important!!… get some honey ASAP and if you feel his energy is still sipping rub some in his gums this should help to bring up his sugar levels and I cress his energy and might also encourage him to eat a little more.. if he still doesn’t appear to be improving I’d go back to the vet incase he needs more Sub-q fluids to help perk him up..

Thank you so much buttons. I have removed his dry food. Luckily he is still eating small amounts of his wet food and I did mix a little water. I also gave him some suppliCal that the vet prescribed… He ate that right up. And also milk replacement for kittens. Still sleeping and doesn’t want to play but I assume that’s going to be for a few days.

yes he could be like that for a few days bless him 🙁 if he does seem to go down hill at all if get straight back to the vet.. cat milk is handy to have at had but if you can get goats milk it’s the very best thing for s growing kitten . and it’s high in L-lysine which is a natural amino acid that boosts the immune system it’s really great stuff and even bette again goats milk yogurt!
