    Hi everyone,
Haven’t posted for ages. I check in now and then, all ninja like! I have a question about The Beautiful One aka Drusilla. She is a funny girl at the moment. She just turned a year old and suddenly seems quite anxious and a bit clingy. I don’t think she’s ill. She’s moulting like crazy but it is the right time of year for that and her coat looks generally good (ok- it’s beautiful, all glossy:). Do cats that have been spayed still get hormonal swings? As far as I can tell, nothing has happened to upset her. My old cat, Louis, died recently but he was an our doors guy and Dru never really had anything to do with him. I have bought her a vat load of Feliway and am making loads of fuss of her. Last night, she decided that she was going to wash my arm- she was majorly dedicated about this, even though (since I was tying to sleep at the time) she got pushed away several times. Any thoughts appreciated…….

Judith, I would just watch her for now with the anxiousness and clinginess. My cats (mostly the girls) take turns being like this periodically. I have never figured out what starts or stops it, but I give them extra attention and pets, and do special things for them and am extra loving and it seems to just disappear. If it continues to the point that you are alarmed, then I would take her to the vet and make sure she doesn’t have something physical going on.

    Hi Judith,

I’m sure she’s upset about Louis passing away. Miss Drusilla may not have interacted with him but she knew he was there. When you would play with him you would smell like him. Here’s a link about pet loss for remaining pets.

Thank you for replying- you both give really good advice. I will give Dru extra fuss and see how she does. I sort of wondered about her ‘missing’ Louis, although they hardly ever met. She must have known he was there- I fed him at the same time as her and she always watched him out of the window. When I occasionally enticed him inside, he had no time for her but she was a complete fan girl with him! Cats are so complicated. I have been upset and that may have an effect on Dru too. She is such a sweet girl, I would like her to be happy always.

Judith, she loves you with devotion I’m sure. Cats pick up on our moods, good or bad. Many times when my heart has been broken, it’s my cats that sense my turmoil and are there to look me in the eyes and offer comfort. You are her Meowmy, it’s normal for her to be upset too. Some chin scritches and comforting words will go a long way to reassure her that you are okay. I seriously think they know exactly what we are saying to them anyway. 🙂
