So my kitten has developd a new habit – he likes to flip over his water bowl (and his sisters) Silly Frankie keeps on flipping over the waterbowls and dragging his food bowl across the floor!

its getting quite annoying, so whats the deal!?

Kim, my Windi does that. She can’t drink without putting her paw in her water bowl and playing with the water. Almost always she ends up spilling water all over and then flipping the bowl. We finally put her bowl on a non-skid mat and then put the actual bowl on a rimmed tray that has a rubber bottom and it sits on the non-skid mat. We can’t stop her from putting her paw in the bowl but at least she can’t drag the bowl and flip it now!

my newest one, Kitty stands like a giraffe (legs spread out as if to balance himself) when drinking water and invariably makes a mess, either knocking over the bowl or just water everywhere.

My Wolfie, who thinks EVERYTHING is a toy, knocks over full glasses of water or anything else. I have caught him pushing a glass of wine to the edge of the table with his paw! He knocked a glass of red wine off my nightstand onto my beige carpet–what a mess. He regularly looks around my cosmetics on the bathroom counter looking for fun objects, like expensive little tubes of things or wood pencils he can carry in his teeth. He has knocked over a small container of *very* expensive face powder (I didn’t pay for it, but still) and it spilled all over the floor, and recently broke my favorite eyeshadow. He also has twice knocked glass candle holders from the ledge into the tub, where they broke.

Indie will splash his paw in his water dish and cry non stop until you give him more. Thought maybe giving him a water container that when it is empty in the bowl it just refills. BAD IDEA! Crazy thing sat there and splashed until it was entirely empty, floor was soaked. He just sat there in the middle of it all and cried for more water to play in. Silly boy.

I love the way my Misu drinks from her cuffed up paw. She never makes a mess, she just dips delicately her paw in the water bowl or under the running water and drinks from it.

Diesel flips the water bowl ALL the time. I think its funny, my roommate-not so much… but since he does flip it in the same spot all the time, now there is some water damage…not so cute… we just wedge the dish into the corner using a big container of litter…

My Salem absolutely LOVES playing in water where ever he can find it… sinks, showers, toilets… but I have his food and drinking water in a dish made for dogs, where it’s just one long rectangle with one side for food, the other for water. The rectangle makes it impossible to flip over (although twice now I’ve seen him playing in the water, accidentally splashing it in the air, startling himself, and then falling into the whole dish, coming out soaking wet.)

We have a canal out the back, and Button’s been in it a number of times – I’m beginning to think not all accidentally, as she just LOVES being towel dried!!
