My 10 day old kitten has been eating, pooping and peeing very well. As of today her poop has taken on a white-ish color instead of the tan-ish golden-ish color that it had. Is this something that I need to worry about?

I found an article online that talks about the various colors of kitten poop (who would have thought!). I don’t know if the information is accurate, but you may want to take the kitten to a vet. http://www.kittenrescue.org/pages.php?pageid=15 (scroll about 3/4 of the way down the page)

yes if the pooh is a light or grey color he needs to go to the vet pronto,he’s probably not doing well. Is the kitten still eating and drinking, peeing and pooping and bright and playful.

A change in pooh color along with a decrease in playfulness, decrease in eating warrants a trip to the vet.

She is still eating, pooping, peeing and the same amount of playfulness. Jus tthe poop has changed color. It is not grey just a lighter yellow and has white to it.

VET!! VET!! Sorry to be an alarmist about this, but your baby needs hydration, and may need subcutaneous fluid injection. This is a serious problem. poo should be brownish yellow and firm. white/curdled means severe dehydration. Mix pedialyte with the formula and cut way back on the formula powder.

Thanks for taking care of this little gal!

I read at this site: http://www.safehavenforcats.com/newborn.htm how to make a pedialyte. I have fed her this until her poop returned to the normal color. She also had a health check yesterday at the vet by a tech and everything came back fine. today she is back on formula but once she has had her amount for the day I am going to give her pedialyte if she fusses instead of formula. I think in my zest to feed her and keep her alive I over fed her and hurt her instead. Bad Mommy!!

As long as you mean to do good you are never a Bad Mommy! We all learn thru trial and error! Keep up the good work and give some lovin’ from me!

By the way, my husband thought that “DAT” was cute, once I got it explained to him!

Oh no, you are a GOOD MOMMY! It is not easy raising such a small one. Even when we do everything right sometimes they don’t make it. Keep up the good work!
