I have a 6 week old kitten shadow we got her 4 days ago she was still drinking from the mother when we got her so we gave her formula to start. Then we brought her to the vet 2 days ago because she wasn’t using the potty she hadn’t gone poo or pee since we got her so he told us to use half whole milk and half water and add a little sugar then feed it to her. So did that she peed like 4 times but no poop still he gave us catlax and still no poop I am very worried she’s extremely active she is now eating wet food trying to wean her off milk and she still won’t poop what should I do 4 days is a long time!!!

The first thing I would do is get her off of cow’s milk if that’s what you are giving her and switch to either KMR (Kitten Milk Replacer) or goat’s milk. You can get it in the refrigerated milk section of the grocery or in the baking aisle in cans as concentrate or powder. If she’s 6 weeks old she should be eating wet food, but you can add the goat’s milk to it or offer it on the side if she will drink it. Most kittens aren’t weaned until the 8 to 10 week age, so taking a kitten from it’s mother isn’t a really good idea unless it was absolutely necessary.

You can add a few drops of olive oil to her milk or food, or take her back to the vet and see what he recommends such as an enema. I know that KMR does seem to cause constipation, but I don’t know why a vet would recommend whole milk to a cat because most cats are lactose intolerant. The goat’s milk is a great alternative because it doesn’t contain much lactose and is full of probiotics for the gut.
