I have about a 4 week old kitten that I rescued. He is going poop and pee without any stimulation. The only problem that I have with him is that the little guy wont go in the litter box. I put him in the litter box when he wakes up and before/after I feed him. I bought one that he can access easily and even some spray that will attract him to it with no such luck. He does have a little blanket however that he doesnt think twice about going on. (both poop and pee) The blanket that he uses to go to the bathroom on is the blanket that he also likes to sleep on too. I have been washing it several times a day so its nice and clean for him. I understand that he is still very little and it will take time but I would like to know if I am doing right or if there is anything I can do to help. I just want to be a good mommy for him! lol If anybody has any advice I would really appreciate it a lot!! Thanks in advance!

That might still be a bit young to use the box on his own. Until then, you can keep trying and move his paws in the box (helps him get the idea). What a good mommy keeping his sleeping/pooping place clean!

He also goes on himself when he is sleeping. Is that normal for a kitten to do? Usually when he wakes up I have a warm, wet towel to clean the poor baby up. I have never taken care of a kitten before and not really sure what to expect. He seems pretty contend and is usually purring or jumping around practicing his ninja moves!(when hes not sleeping or eating) lol And thanks for the advice!

Is this a small blanket that he is eliminating on? Maybe put it in the litter box and cover it with litter? If he starts to go in there, remove the blanket and frankly, get rid of it. Once a cat starts regularly using something to go potty on it can be hard to break that habit, so I’d just remove it completely.

Just my 0.02! Good luck 🙂

Its a smaller blanket, the only thing I had at the time big enough to wrap around the heating bottles Im using. I would hate to take it away from him. He cuddles up to it all the time. I wonder if it would work to just cut a piece of it and put it in his litter box. I know at some point I will have to get rid of it. I just dont want to mess with his sleeping habits and upset his routine.(does that sound babying him?) I dont want a blanket around that will start to stink either lol. Does washing with normal laundry soap(i use arm & hammer) take out the smell of his pee? I know it doesnt smell bad to me, but can he smell it?
