hello everyone, my 3 kittens had diarrhea last week, i gave them antibiotics and it was gone, they are doing fine except that their skin is peeling, around their private parts and back legs, now they are in pain while pooping and not while peeing. i clean the area with disinfectant after simulating them but one of them seems to have infection.
I have Bactroban ointment(contains mupirocine) that i’m using it for a similar infection in my arm, the skin peeled and then got infected, i thought on using it on them. what do you think? does it worth the shot?
and another thing, is that normal that their eyes aren’t blue? they will be 4 weeks old on Saturday.

My first thought would be ring worm especially because you say you have a “similar skin infection”..

If there is an infection setting in I would bring them straight to the vet.. The fact they were on antibiotic and this infection started after is strange .. Any antibiotic in their system should have helped keep an infection at bay..

Ring worm is a fungal infection and is extremely contagious to both animals & humans and anti fungal cream / anti fungal oral meds may be needed if it is ringworm.. Sometimes Apple cider vinegar can help with fungal infections of maluka honey is a very good anti bacterial z

To be safe I would bring them back to vet for a proper diagnosis ..

That’s what went first to my mind but my doctor said that it has nothing to do with the kittens,he said if it was a Ring worm it would grow slowly but what i had, didn’t grow, but Spread in a near zone it was like mosquitoes bite at first, for the Kittens, someone told me it could be affected by the diarrhea, it doesn’t have pus though. anyways,I’m cleaning them with disinfectant.
how do i use the apple vinegar? turns out that we have the natural one it’s probably better

As long as the “Mother” is still in the vinegar .. The Mother are the bits you see floating about in the bottle.. That means it’s unpasteurized ACV and that’s what you want to use..

Dilute it half and half with water and dab on the effected area..

I do remember a doctor telling my mam once that a rash/ infection she had wasn’t ringworm I insisted it was and sure enough I was right in the end ..

I hope it isn’t ringworm .. And as your doc seen your rash he’s probably right..

It is a very unusual area to have “peeling skin” I do think they need to go bal to vet incase it’s a parasite allergy or even scabies there are a lot of bite lice and mites that could cause this reaction and they can’t be seen with the naked eye a skin scraping needs to be taken by the vet.. They are very young and if an infection sets in it could be life threatening ..

Ok here what i did, i gave them an antibacterial bath (with naural soap so no chemicals) and then for three days i massaged the area ith some olive oil,it worked so well, the damaged skin is peeling, and the kittens is no longer in suffer, and i’m trying with an antiseptic ointment to help the new skin coming out! i will tell you the results, for now everything is fine

hi! I created an account to solely respond on this form because I need some advice. I have a kitten whose skin is peeling around his private areas and back legs. he’s had horrible diarrhea for about a week but it slowly went away after I added probiotics to his forumla / added more water . he was being stimulated under running water when he had diarrhea because it was so messy. I believe that’s the cause of the skin peeling. i’ve been adding neosporin every couple hours for about two days and it looks to be doing better. I just didn’t know if anyone had any other suggestions or similar experiences to me??
