I have a few troubles with my 3 month old kitten. The kitten is still feeding from the mother. She will not try to eat anything else but the dry food. She is also not using the liter box. She’s been going to the bathroom right next to her food dish. We’ve tried showing her the liter box and made her scratch in the liter to get a feel for it. She just will not get it. Help!

Mother cats decide when they want to wean the kitten – so I wouldn’t worry to much about that. If they get sick of them they will not let the kitten nurse anymore. IMO the mom knows best 🙂

What dry are you feeding and what wets have you tried? Will the kitten eat raw (raw chicken, beef, pork, turkey, etc)? If it will that IMO is a thousand times better but it has to be balanced with 80% meat, 10% bone, 5% liver, and 5% kidney. Its probably the exact same price as feeding kibble also. If you want to know more about raw I can tell you 🙂

Try kitten attract in the litterbox. Have you tried differant types of litter? Some cats just like differant textures.

Ha! I know what you need to do to get your kitten to use the litterbox. Chances are, she just doesnt know yet that the box is meant for peeing and pooping. With my fosters I always take the poop, or the paper towel I used to dry up the pee, and put it in the litterbox, and then take kitty and show it to her. No scolding or nasty words, just keep leaving all her pee/poo in the box and she’ll get the picture. I usually do this for a day, maybe two at the most, and then the problem is over. Its all about scent-association – teaching kittens which scent belongs where. Good luck & please let me know if this works for you or not?
