My wife and I got a rescue kitten about 1 month ago. Super playful little guy. He LOVES to play especially before bed, assuming this is just excitement to have people around.. but while he is sleeping all day, we are at work and when we need to sleep, he is trying to play. Sometimes it gets aggressive and I end up putting him in his bedroom, but feel guilty since he is alone all day to start with..

We both work during the day and are away for 10-12 hours per day (although we do have a cat sitter come for 1 hour per day)

We are considering a second kitten and think it makes sense, however our current kitten is getting over ringworm and has cat flu (flares up every so often)

My question is … given majority of kittens from shelters have ringworm – does it matter if we wait? Secondly, how long do you wait to get a second cat given kitten #1 is healthy.

    Thanks!

    Hi Daniel,

Here’s a couple of links that give ideas on entertaining your kitten. I think getting your guy a playmate is good however, here’s a couple of rules-female and spayed. I’ve learned mixed sex kittens/cats get along better. YOU absolutely must be sure your guy is healthy before introducing a new kitten. You want to avoid the new kitten getting sick. If you have any questions, please call the vet before adopting.
