It’s not pining, it’s passed on! This parrot is no more! It has ceased to be! It’s expired and gone to meet its maker! This is a late parrot! It’s a stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! If you hadn’t nailed it to the perch, it would be pushing up the daisies! It’s rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-parrot!

Just butting in to share my creamed kale experience…just made some and it was fantastic. I have made creamed spinach many times…but I think I like the kale even better. I did saute some onions and garlic first and then added the kale and cream…really good and really easy! I used it in a colcannon recipe instead of cabbage…and added turkey sausage.

Ohhh, I thought it was a Monty Python theme for a new skit…who creamed the Kale?! Tee hee…it actually looks pretty nummy!

(Hmmm, maybe it was from a Veggie Tale story…)

Seriously Dee, does it taste like sorrel? My gran would make ?sp:szczaw soup, sour sort of sorrel-like soup. Picked it out of the lawn little fish shaped leaves…oy, memories!

I think it is more bitter than sorrel. I think it is more comparable to Swiss Chard…a bit more bitter than that, though.

Linda, you made me laugh with the Lumberjack Song reference. Here’s an odd fact, that song was performed at the tribute concert to George Harrison in 2002, and one of the performers was Tom Hanks.

For any Beatles fans, if you haven’t seen that concert it’s worth looking up; at one point Paul & Ringo were onstage with George’s son Dhani, and all it needed was Julian Lennon to make you think you’d gone back in time 40 odd years.

Wow, talk about a ride down Memory Lane, Kilroy 🙂

I’ve heard of kale chips, has anyone here tried them? I’m not much for greens, never had ’em when I was growing up, but I’m willing to try something new. Hubs though….I can see his nose wrinkle now, and hear him say “you gonna EAT that CRAP?”

I love the fish-slapping dance from Monty Python too!

YES! Kale chips are fantastic! You would never even think they are kale!

Tom did not like greens when I first met him, now he eats them all the time…I try to always have them in the house. He loved the creamed kale that I just made.

And I always keep fresh greens in the house for the cats, too…haha!
