I foster 4 kittens, and they poop EVERYWHERE. I haven’t had this much problems with potty training, and being somewhat of a germophobe it is making me a little crazy. I put them in there, and have them dig around. 3 have taken to it at least once, the other is a baby that whines for no reason at all and refuses to have anything to do with wetfood or litterbox. Whhhaat can I do? They are 4 weeks old, still bottle feeding, but starting on pate. They need to go in the litterbox! If I can’t get them to do it, I am going to have to bring them back because it is driving me insane! I know I have to teach them but I am trying everything… Any advice? Please?

Like babies being potty trained, it doesn’t happen overnight and takes patience please. Some of the links below may help you on this quest, also might want to try using Kitten Attract on top of the litter to entice them to use the litter. And I think that clumping litter is not advised for very young kittens to begin their litter training.

It isn’t clumping, and I have been trying for about a week… I show them my own cats using the bathroom, I put them in their after they eat, I stimulate them in there… And they prefer to sleep in it. Ahhh it has never been this hard

You can try picking up their little accidents and putting it into the box. Sometimes they get the idea when they smell their previous offerings in the litter.

Make sure you are thoroughly cleaning the places they have gone. A good enzyme cleaner is a must.

Regarding the littlest one who isn’t taking to weaning as well – a litter of kittens can have multiple fathers and can be convinced several days apart. They end up being born at the same time but the little guy may have been a few days premature. It makes a big difference in their development the first few months.

Some cats/kittens find comfort in sleeping in their litter boxes, who knows why but it is a good reason to keep them really clean. Just patience is good, if you can find the Kitten Attract to put on top of the current litter it really does help (my experience).

I’ll look for the attract (: And the boy is the biggest and healthiest, so if he was premature he is doing great (:

Such a baby! Someone pooed in the litterbox. Now to get them to do that every time, and not step in it!

They have gotten sooo much better. But they now have a problem with the suckling on the genitalia. One keeps going for her brother, and no matter how many times I correct the behaviour she refuses to learn… And they have litter embedded in their fur. I have to shave ones tail :
