Hey, I managed to get a kitty castle, used but in workable shape. Any suggestions on how to clean it? The owners cat died, I’m guessing old age, not viral but I want to be careful. I am going to remove the hair (lots of it) but not sure what cleaner to use. Regular carpet cleaner or a bleach mix(oxy clean??).

Personally, I’d be tempted to rip off all the carpeting, get a couple large cans of Lysol spray and soak the outside surfaces of wood/particleboard, and then install new scrap carpeting.

Hmmmm..couldn’t you just take some hand sanitizer and water it down enough to spray from a bottle and give it several good doses of it? If you know the cat who owned it was healthy it seems to me that you may be able to avoid the more radical makeover..??????

Yeah, I thought so, too. Maybe one of those sticky rollers will take care of the hair. And there’s got to be some kind og antibacterial spray you can spray it with. I assume it’s not dirty?

You know what I use on removing hair is I bought a wire dog brush especially for the purpose of removing such hair. It’s a miracle worker. Works better than sticky roller & masking tape wound around the hand put together & it fluffs up the carpeting as well.

Catchoo, what a great idea! I’ve got one like that, and am going right now to use it on Molly’s trees. The vacuum just wasn’t working at getting all the hair up. Thanks!

Thanks everyone and Catchooooooooo! 🙂 It is huge!

I do have one of those metal shedders, and a steam cleaner. so those steps are first and second, then while it is still wet I am going to dround it in 70% rubbing alcohol. Kills everything with out leaving any residue to worry about the kits. Will do the last step outside so I don’t explode my house. 🙂

    Thanks.
