Once you click “Let’s Cat” you will see a drop down menu like this…

Same with clicking the “Your Account” tab, you will find a drop down menu to let you change your email, password, and picture.

Now if you scroll down on the chat page, you’ll find the recent replies…

The yellow topics are sticky, meaning they will stay at the top of this section.
If you scroll some more you’ll find the tag cloud.

And even lower, you’ll find site activity.

Now to post, scroll back up

Click a category either on the page or drop down menu, or a topic. Once you’ve gotten to the page, scroll all the way down until you see a box.

After you find this box in either a category or topic, you can post. Keep in mind, for topics, this box is only found after clicking a category (general chat, purrs, newsroom, etc…)
To post pictures instead of links…

I hope this helps a little bit! I tried to keep it simple. Ill try to do more but I’m limited to an iPad. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!
Also if pictures don’t load, refresh the page. I apologize if you can’t see them right away!

    Tags

Tags appear at the top of a post, like usual. Adding a tag to a post makes it easier to find using the tag cloud. The more often a tag is used, the larger it appears in the tag cloud.

    You can still add a tag to posts (at least I’ve been able to) type in your tag in the tag section below the comment box. It will appear at the top. Do not remove any previous tags. I’m not sure what will happen, but just don’t do it in case it messes up the other ones (;
Edit: Just tested, it DOES remove other tags. So when adding a tag, do not delete the other ones.

    Adding Friends and Accepting Friends

To add, first click on the person you want to add

You’ll be taken to their profile
    Next, click “add friend”

And now you’ve got a friend (request)!

To accept someone’s friend request, first, go to your profile (click your own name)

That box at the bottom is a place to post blurbs, like statuses on Facebook, or tweets on twitter, by the way.

You’ll click on the tab that says “friends”

Click on requests to view any requests sent to you.

We are all friends here, so think of adding people as a way to access posts done by specific people easily. You can access your friends through your profile when they’re not online to check any replies or posts. When you get used to it, it can be easier to find your friends posts versus relying on the recent activity lists, and sifting through other categories and topics (:

Chaos this is awesome and looks like a lot of work. I appreciate this walk-through and will be referring back as needed – highly likely given my dubious tech skills!

Thanks for this guide since I could not figure out how to navigate. Even with the guide it is still frustrating and difficult for me to figure out how to post.

I’ve got to say this though… If you need a guide for a forum for others to follow, then that means you have made it too complicated to use and need to simplify it. I actually prefer the old lay out as it was completely idiot proof and much easier to navigate. This paragraph is aimed at the ones who made this site/ new layout (I have no idea who that is!), and I’m sorry, I appreciate the site and am not trying to be rude, but I just feel I need to put that out there since it is so frustrating for me to use now.

Okay… I can log in, but then when I click on “chat” it shows me as logged out and won’t let me post in any of the threads. I cannot figure out how to post once I am in a thread and have no idea how it managed to let me post in this one. When I am in a thread and scroll to bottom, no box to post in!!! This is really frustrating… help please.

Edit: Ahhh… never mind. I finally find a way to post to this site after several days of trying to find a way to ask for help, and then I manage to figure out how to post in the other threads…. so never mind. Sorry. If anyone else is having this problem, do not click on the actual word “chat”, it will show you as logged out for whatever reason. You have to actually click within the drop box on “general” or “purrs” or something like that if you want to stay logged in.

And thank you again so much for this tutorial. It helped me a whole lot when I stumbled upon it today. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’d be lost without this.

Edit again: Arg…. !!! I thought I had finally reached success. I can click on purrs and stay logged in. I can scroll all the way down to the bottom and there is a box to type a post in, but the second I click on one of the threads it shows me as logged out (log in/ register replaces the words “your account” in top right) and there is no longer a box to type in all the way at the bottom, so I cannot post within the threads. I’m at a loss. How do I reply to someone within the threads? Not sure why it’s letting me in this thread but not in any other thread….

Edit/ edit again: figured it out. If it logs you out when you click on a thread to read & then post… just hit the refresh button and you will be logged back in automatically. Must be some sort of glitch, not sure. But in case anyone else is having this problem, that is what you do. ๐Ÿ™‚

    @snowkitten

    Hey!

Sorry to hear you’re having so many issues, we’re trying to work through them as quickly as possible.

I’ve just tweaked the login process, can let me know if you stop getting logged out over the next day or two?

    Thanks!

It’s still doing it, but it is fine now that I know to just refresh the page. It only takes one refresh to automatically log back in. Thank you so much for the response & for looking into it, and also for the great forum. ๐Ÿ™‚

The way I changed my avatar was by going into My Account and clicking on Change Picture link. As for photos I post using “Photobucket”, you can Google it and see if it works for you. There might be others here tomorrow with more tech experience but hope this helps. BTW I think I recall that you were looking for suggestions for names for your kitty. Did you pick one yet? ๐Ÿ™‚
