I got this kitten today from a friend of a friend, he was found all alone. I don’t really know how old he is, I’m guessing somewhere around 4-6 weeks. http://tinypic.com/r/2i1mmgh/6 http://tinypic.com/r/t6qrdt/6 As you can see his ears still look pretty new, from being curled up inside the womb (I’m guessing) He has all of his teeth except for the very back molars. I don’t have any means to get to the store tonight to buy proper food, so for now I’ve been feeding him regular cat food moistened with water. I have 4 other adult cats who don’t seem to like him very well, but hopefully that will change soon. I also noticed he cries when he tries to poop, he hasn’t went yet. I feel sorry for the little guy 🙁 But I already love him very much 🙂 Any other advice on caring for abandoned kittens would be greatly appreciated, I have never hand raised one quite this young before.

I think he’s 6-7 weeks old. He looks like the size of my kitten when we got her at 7 weeks. Also I looked online and it said that the bottom molars come in at around 7 weeks, so if he has both upper and lower molars he’s probably around that age. That’s good news, because the older the kitten, the healthy it will be generally. I think that adult cat food is ok for one night. My kitten used to steal my older cat’s food. Just make sure to provide plenty of water.

Also, you should take him to the vet as soon as possible. He needs to be checked out and given his first set of shots. In addition, you need to keep the kitten away from your other cats for at least the first few days. I hope that helps. I am sure others will be on soon with my advice.

He is adorable, and there is no problem with feeding him adult cat food until you can get to the shops (but preferably wet food, not dry). Ladysky is right on the button — keep him away from your other cats till he’s had his check-up, if your others are vaccinated they should be okay but you never know. Also, it will help with the introduction process if it’s really gradual and they can only smell and hear him for a while. These are great sites for advice and if you have any specific questions, check back here, there’ll always be someone who’ll try to help 🙂

If his eyes are not blue anymore and he’s got his molars, he’s probably passed the 6 weeks mark.

I too think you should get him checked out at the vet’s especially since you’ve mentioned he has potty problems.

    ps/ He’s such a cutie!!
