    Hiya!

Been lurking round and checking out some posts on wild kitten behaviour, so thought I’d create myself an account and say hello! I’m Emma, and my 4 month bundle of pure hatred is Luna (otherwise known as Cooking Fat)
I haven’t quite figured out how to post photos, so here’s some from Instagram till I can figure it out…

    Hope they work!

Don’t be fooled by how adorable she is. She’s the actual devil incarnate. She never sleeps. She likes human flesh and only drinks blood. She also likes to poo behind the tv, and occasionally stand on your face when you’re asleep.

Suppose I’m looking for reassurance that she’s normal, although I’m guessing you’re all going to say yes? :-/

I sadly lost my Siberian Husky in July, and we didn’t plan on any more pets, but we accidentally fell in love with Luna. Having put up with the attitude of a Siberian Husky for 7 years I thought a kitten would be easy. LOL at how much of a stupid statement that was. If Cookie had still been here, Cooking Fat would definitely have battered her!

Welcome to TDK Emma and Luna!
Well your kitty is a stunner! Then again I have a predilection for silver grey bullseye tabbies as you will note from the avatar of my fur-boy, Dorian Gray Esq AKA Dorry.
I’m no expert and other TDKers might have some practical advice, but my boy is feisty and a biter as well and for me I’ve gotten some tips from my vet/vet tech as well as a cat behaviourist. Just my opinion but it’s sometimes easier to get advice from someone who sees your set-up and your interaction with your kitty. I do hope that this helps.
BTW she looks like she could be a distant relative of my kitty. And she actually does look good in pink! 😉
    Cooking Fat??? Just wondering!
Also your pics came out fine, but if you’re looking for an upload site lots of us use Photobucket.

Welcome to the fluffiest place on the net Emma.
OMG Luna is an absolute sweetie pie darling.
I can believe that she is trouble in disguise, most cats seem to be in one way or another.
You have managed to get her to wear clothing? Wow, she can’t be too evil.
I would say you have got yourself a feisty kit there who will become easier and tamer as she ages.
She is a real stunner though, such a pretty face.
Sorry about your loss of your Siberian Husky earlier this year.
Kits have this amazing of melting hearts and moving in before you even know what has happened. I am sure you will have lots of fun with her and love from her.
    Er . . . Cooking Fat? Interesting.
My Avatar is Moonshadow(Shadz or HRH) my black dappled tortie.

    Hi Emma and Luna,

    Concats and welcome

Miss Luna has you well trained as the captions indicate on the pictures. You didn’t say how much human flesh and blood she extracts but this behavior needs to be addressed before she becomes an adult.

If she doesn’t have an underlying medical condition then this is behavioral action. There is still an odor where she’s pooped behind the TV so get an enzyme cleaner (Nature’s Miracle or such). Clean the area very well and hopefully that will solve the problem. If you’re using a scented litter switch it over to an unscented one. Cats are sensitive to perfumes.

Good luck and keep in touch

    Emma I love it!!!
And can’t resist giving it away. OK guys – F**king Cat! Note: unfluffy language forbidden on our purry site!
And at this moment I’m using epithets as my Dorry is sequestered in bathroom (his litter box is there so no worries,) at tech guy is here with all sorts of dangerous wires and screws abounding. Dorry is shrieking to be let out. Not ’til later boy!

Oh, I’m sure Luna will calm down a little as she matures – at four months she’s still a stroppy teen, after all.

She has a beautiful face, as so many tabbies seem to have, which is what makes them so irresistible!

Keep on enjoying each other, spending time playing together and – with a bit of luck – tiring her out, so that you both get some rest now and again.

    😀

Thanks everyone for your lovely messages 🙂

Admittedly I’ve never been a cat person (for shame!) as I’ve always had dogs. After my Cookie Monster passed away I really didn’t want any other animals as its so hard when you lose them and I didn’t want to go through it again. My friend’s cat had got out, came home pregnant and she was struggling for home for them when they were born. She sent me photos of them the day they were born and I absolutely knew I had to have one of them. Luna was the last kitty to leave her mum (apart from a brother who they kept) as I wanted her to stay with them for as long as possible. I’m not sure what the recommended age to bring a kitten home is, as everywhere I read said something different. I knew dogs was an 8 week minimum rule, so she stayed with her mum and brother till she was 9 weeks. I went to visit a lot as they just live up the road. Her brother is SO chilled out and sleeps all day, so I genuinely think we got the oddball of the litter.

I whinge and moan about her constantly (because she’s the devil) but she’s the best thing ever. Me and him indoors are totally in love with her, despite her being constantly on the rampage. She has so many toys that she doesn’t care to play with, because her favourite thing to do is roll around a rolled up receipt around the kitchen floor.

I think her main source of frustration now is that she wants to go outside but we can’t let her just yet. She’s had all of her injections but we can’t have her spayed till 6 months, so she’s grounded till then. I’ve quite shamelessly bought her a pink glittery harness and lead that we take her in the garden in so she can explore, but it’s not quite the same as letting her explore by herself!

I’m sure I’ll be swotting up on all the posts on here though, so I’m glad I found you guys. A forum a lot like this one helped me so much when I was dealing with the trials and tribulations of a Siberian Husky who was driving me up the wall, and the things I learned from people were invaluable.

Look forward to chatting to you all 😀

I’ll admit to sometimes describing my Dorry as “evil incarnate” but everyone knows that I’m exaggerating. Or am I? And do they? Hmmm …
Glad that you found us Emma. Glittery pink harness, how purrfect for a grrl kit! If my Dorry had a harness I’d opt for leather and metal studs. And a matching look for me hehehe. But the boy stays indoors, so I’m not trying to get him into anything.
