We found a kitten in a sorry state on the street, she looks about 4 /6 weeks old. After a good ash and clean up she looks a lot better but very running eyes with yellow discharge, we have got some human eye drops and this was improved, she a lot has running nose which we have kept clearing and washing, and seem some improvement. We sometimes goes I to litter with a little prompt but a lot having a few accidents. She eaten kitten food and I now have to make some kitten formula as cannot get sheep or goat milk here in jordan. She is sleeping in big chair next to our bed and when we woke up yesterday she was limping on back leg she does put a little weight on it but the paw seems a little swollen but she does not seem in any pain, and does not effect her when we touch it or any part of her leg ?? Any advice or advice would be great

    HI Vicmick,

I wish I could give some at home treatment but this wee kittah needs to see a vet ASAP. I’m sure she has an Upper Respiratory Infection. She will need medications for treatment. There’s no way of telling why she’s limping and has a swollen paw. I understand it may difficult to find a vet. in Jordan but please find one for her.

When we got home today the eyes are so much better, breathing normally and eating two small plates of kitten food one this morning small one tonight and managed to get stuff to make kittens formula and she drank this well so getting some goodness into her and fluids now, she still limping but seems happy and purring away. We are trying to get in to the see the vets but the only visit once a month and by appt only. As we said things like vets and pets stores are just not things you find here in jordan. But help and advice of what we can do to help would be great.

Hi, Vicmick, that was going to be my question, what is the vet situation like in Jordan. In the meantime, it sounds like she might have hurt her paw jumping down from the big chair next to your bed but it could, as PG says, be anything, keep an eye on it so you can tell the vet about the problem when you do see him/her. Hopefully it will resolve itself — is the paw hot to the touch? As for the URI, taking kitten into the shower room with you (but not into the shower!) when you have a shower or running the hot water for her in the bathroom while you are there, holding her (again, not IN the shower, it is the steam you want her to share, you don’t want her to get wet at all and she wouldn’t like that either) can help clear her little nose. Wipe it and her eyes gently, and click the pink tag ‘URI’ as this will give you heaps more advice. At least she’s eating, that’s a great sign. Best of luck!
