Hi, Steph, PG has great advice. Also, small kittens can be like small children, they get ‘caught short’ if they are playing and suddenly need to go and are a long way away from his litterbox. Also check that he can get in and out of it easily, that it’s in a quiet place (not in a heavy traffic area where he might be afraid of being stepped on). Kittens pee in their warm nests when they are with their mum and she cleans it up so peeing in the bed is something a lot of them do, as PG said, you need to clean the spot with an enzyme cleaner. Also, when you go out, I would leave him in a smaller space — maybe the bathroom or kitchen if you don’t trust him alone in your bedroom — with his litterbox so he doesn’t get caught short again. If the problem continues, you can get a Feliway spray — it’s a pheromone that tells him, we don’t pee here — and spray it on spots where he has been going. You can also try moving his litter tray to over the spot where he has peed eg in the kitchen or bathroom. But do get him checked out by the vet for an infection, if it hurts him when he pees in his litter box, he will start to avoid it. Best of luck and your vet will have more suggestions.
