    Hello all new here

My wife and I found three day old kittens left by one of our outside barn cats. One kitten was already dead and we brought the other two in and bottle fed them. They were eating and going to the bathroom like normal. Next day one we found one of them dead. The last one is still going strong 10days later. We took him to the vet on around day 5 and they ran a fecal test and found no problems. When we were there we bought kmr powder, before this we were using kmr liquid.
On day six he had one bowel movement and since none. He has not gone in 4 days now. Called vet yesterday and he stated that just as long as he is urinating everything will be fine because he is using all the nutrients and there is nothing for waste.
He is eating fine not in pain, belly is full after feeding and when we wake him belly has gone down. Just want to make sure this is ok.
    Thanks

Welcome Lloyd! KMR powder tends to be more constipating to young kittens than the liquid. You can try adding a few drops of olive oil to his milk to help soften the stool and help elimination. Goat’s milk is another way to feed your kitten, and much cheaper. I raised my last kitten almost entirely on it. It is lactose free (unlike cow’s milk) and full of good flora for their gut, and my kitten avoided the aggravation of constipation and hard stools while on it. It is found in the milk cooler sections of the grocery stores or in the baking aisle of most groceries (including Walmart) in cans. In the cans, it’s condensed, so you add water 1 to 1. So sorry you lost the other 2 kittens. Hope this helps with the remaining one. A lot of times kittens don’t poop every single day, because of the reasons your vet stated. But the best time to try is a few minutes after feedings. Good luck with your kitten and keep us updated!

    Kittyzee,

Thank you for the help. I just tried the 1:3 ratio and he is sleeping now. I think I will try the goats milk if this doesn’t help.
