Good morning! We’re so lucky to have a real Irish lady to open the cafe today. And such a handsome boy, buttons.

One of my best friend lives here in Jacksonville. We both wished for years that we lived closer to one another. Well, now we do and we hardly ever see each other. Her kids are much younger than mine, so she’s in a different phase of life. But we did have dinner together last night and are going to try to do better about seeing each other. We had a great time.

No corned beef for us today, but it just so happens that one of my favorite lunches to cook (make it on Sunday and eat it through the week) is a ground beef, potato, cabbage dish I invented. I have one more day of leftovers, so that shall be my lunch today.

Morning all! ….. it’s St. Patty’s day here, and my city is fixing to turn the Hillsborough River green, and has a whole big party weekend coming up with Irish food and green beer (any excuse to party, and this town goes all in! LOL)

I have on my green shirt today (I only own one, cause green isn’t my color), and am settling in for a nice dinner of corned beef and cabbage to celebrate tonight! ….

Abby is thinking of going with the following look ………..

I too, am making corned beef and cabbage…it’s been hard for me to wait until today to fix it too as I love corned beef and I love cabbage! I did have a green sweater on, but like AV, green isn’t my color (at least THAT color green) and couldn’t take it anymore and changed shirts! I just couldn’t go around all day feeling fugly. LOVE the t-shirt from yesterday though, adorable! Plus it has kitties on it!
A bit cooler here today and for the next few days actually. I may have to fire up the wood stove again, but it will feed good especially in the evenings and chilly mornings. Sun is shining brightly though.
Well, off to start laundry and scare up another cup of coffee!
BUTTONS! So good to see you again! Mr. Buttons in his green tie is so sweet–you should have given a COA warning for him and that sweet orange and white kitten with the green hat! I hurt myself on the computer table as my head hit on the way down!!! 😆

    Stumpy McCoppertop?????
Top of the Mornin’ to all TDKers!
Sent Dorry to Café thru wormhole. Just got frantic text sent from his Catdroid. Something along the lines of … “Don’t be shocked … those mean grrrl kitties … wasn’t my fault … and neon green streak down my back …” Hmmm, I do have a non-interference policy and the boy can take care of himself. Guess I’ll get (his version) of the story l8r LOL.
I am wearin’ the green today. Green is 110% my colour. Dorry and I have matching cat eyes hehehe. So it’s green knit sweater (or as they say in IE jumper) green patterned tights, green down jacket (still chilly here and said to be getting chillier purrhaps even snow!) and green tote. Oh and green headband made with leftover yarn from sweater. No Irish in my bkgd taht I’m aware of, but Dorry is named for a character created by famous Irish writer, Oscar Wilde, so ther’s that srsly remote connection.
Hi lagatta, did you catch last night’s “X Company” IMHO best episode yet!

Well, I prefer just the Gaelic version of my real name… Renzo is Labhrás or Lubhrás (Lorenzo, Lawrence, Laurent) – our great river is too, but Renzo isn’t named for the river, or the major street near my place. He is named for a character in an Italian historical novel.

No Corned beef and cabbage here, as I’ve been avoiding red meat for a while. I think I’ll just make a fish pie with potatoes and greens, including some kind of cabbage, and something really green like parsley. I have some hake cooked and flaked, and this will also make Renzo happy.

I wish I had more green garments; I love green, and nice greens are hard to find. I don’t like them too yellow.

Here are some common sayings related to the day in Irish Gaelic: http://www.bitesize.irish/st-patricks-day/
Scottish Gaaelic is closely related and some speakers can understand both, but they are considered separate languages.

Yes, I did watch X-Company during the broadcast (though on my computer). I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t get any more violent than it did. Of course it is about war, so people get killed.

I didn’t write any spoilers, but both the Paris Vel d’Hiv’ roundup in July 1942 and the Dieppe Raid a month later are well-known historical facts. The show is very good in the way it portrays the “banality of evil”.

“The sad truth is that most evil is done by people who never make up their minds to be good or evil.”
    ? Hannah Arendt

Franz Faber is a normal, intelligent man who would have been a decent average citizen in other historical circumstances. But at least Sabine Faber sees the light.

Sprinkles McWhiskey-I can relate to that!

Mmmm, Irish Coffee. I don’t have Whiskey and Kahlua but I have Irish Creme so that will work with coffee.

Afternoon all! …. had a productive day, and got MIL’s new washer/dryer delivered and installed …. she was having a caniption over it! LOL
Son’s endoscopy went well, they found he has an ulcer and a small hernia …. actually not too bad news, could have been much worse. No surgery now, it should heal over time, but he’s got to watch his diet carefully, and not strain himself … he’s only moved twice in the past 6 mos. it’s a miracle he didn’t kill himself! …..
Looking forward to the weekend, finished my continuing ed yesterday, so it won’t hijack my Caturday 😉 ….. L8R all!

Hope everyone is having a good time at the St. Patrick’s Day café here in TDK land – I’m guessing that’s where my trio vanished to! Got a text from Comet sporting his formerly white tipped tail that is now green! Thinking the idea came from the pic that Abby is checking out!
Cheri, glad that GIF made you smile – hoping you get thru what you need to with minimal negative effects.
Went out to run a bunch of errands and came home to find my Shepard’s Pie in the crockpot smelling awesome! Added some veggies and will whip up some mashed potatoes to top it with later, adding cheese as well, of course!
Nice to have a fresh haircut and I had my eyebrows waxed the other day, so feeling good about that.
Have been increasing my walking/hiking. Not up to the 5 miles from 2015, but getting there – at around 3. Chatted with neighbor who was walking her dog, another neighbor is quite ill so she is helping with her dogs. She runs a doggie day care but obviously cannot have clients right now. Hoping she recovers. We were standing by the dam and along comes Berta, walking along the edge of the lake. She must have heard my voice. The kitty is stalking me! She is such a sweetie and I’m so glad she shares a version of late neighbor’s name.
While this morning was sunny and warm enough for flip flops, the weather quickly turned cold and windy with on and off showers. I staked out a spot to plant peas but didn’t get them in the ground. Must turn the soil, add some more from my cauldron that should be full of nutrients from the cast iron (yes I have a cauldron full of dirt), then add potting soil. Think I’ll border it with rocks, there is no shortage of them here, then utilize ‘the teepee method’ of leaning tall sticks together for the peas to climb. Purchased 2 small pots of pansies to brighten up the yard. They are hearty, and should withstand whatever weather is headed this way this weekend, be it rain or snow.

How do I get the neon green stripe off Dorry’s back? Someone? Anyone? *wink*
So in keeping with the day I bought me an emergency umbrella as it was srsly pouring out – it’s black and bold neon green! And now of course rain stopped, but an xtra brolly is a good thing.
lagatta, your take on last nite’s “X Company” is interesting. The train discussion between Aurora and Faber was amazing, how she held herself together! Now I think that on some level Sabine knew exactly what sort of things were going on, we know that Dieppe is coming and I sense that she is not going to make it out alive. From some of my reading, most peeps were in denial as in peeps living in the town next to Auschwitz maintaining that they had “no idea.” I laud the US/British army for making townspeople walk through the camps and in some instances bury the dead. I find this quote very appropriate. “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” – Edmund Burke
Back to more pleasant topic. Tonight it’s another episode of “Vikings” so I can PVR a show featuring the super good-looking Travis Fimmel. I know that PG agrees with me on this one! *wink*
JJ, such fun to have hair etc. attended to, esp with certain day approaching *wink*. I’m going for my trim next week and am still going with the plan to over time achieve a dark-haired version of Justin Bieber’s style, as pretty close to shaved at sides and back and long on top, with fringe being almost chin length and pretty near to covering one eye. I still have a ways to go, but fringe does go past my eyelashes now. LOL

Happy St. Paddy’s Day, I have been out and about with shopping for litter, kitty treats and food, visited with a friend for a couple of hours and now back home. May perhaps have a wee bit of a nap, not working tonight yay!

Oooh, Dorry got a racing stripe, did he? Not surprised, with the girls sporting green claws and green ribbons and the boys playing with green food coloring while wearing their green bowties. They have been admiring the huge photo of Buttons that is highlighted in the café.
I painted my own claws a pastel green. Leela thought it was okay, but prefers the darker green the cats used.
