Well now let’s see….. there’s a snazzy tux kitty on the door of the cafe making sure everyone is observing the correct dress code… Yes Green Bow ties for the boys and green ribbons for the girls πŸ™‚

the Cafe courtyard fountain has been dyed green in honour of St Paddy himself.. and a little corner in the cafe has been set up with new laptops so all kitty’s can look up their Irish ancestry πŸ™‚

there are plenty of snacks on offer πŸ™‚ lots of apple tart and stout cake … lovely menu for dinner…. good old bacon and cabbage, steak and Guinness pie πŸ™‚ and of course there are alcoholic tipples about πŸ™‚ and some lovely Irish coffee if your in the mood .. so sit back and relax in the cafe today and have a bit of Craic. πŸ˜† Happy St Patrick’s day everyone !!!!

In honour of my soulkitty Buttons he loved his little bow tie πŸ™‚ <3

Well let me be the first to wish you a Happy St. Paddy’s Day Buttons!
Pics are awesome, esp lovely Buttons dressed so smartly. And the orangie gif. And the dancing kits. Heck, all of ’em are awesome!
Well today I wore green just because and on the day itself I’ll do likewise. I like wearing green as matches my eyes purrfectly. And Dorry’s. LOL
So 2 peeps with Irish bkgd at gym commented on my purrfect colour choice and I greeted one of them with “Γ‰irinn go BrΓ‘ch.” And surprise, surprise, I was told that my pronunciation was purrfect!
No Irish in me so far as I know. But there is a thriving Jewish community in Dublin. Sadly the Jewish synagogue in your n’hood as Cork City closed this past Feb. But if I ever get myself into the TDK cybermobile …

My best friend was Irish on both sides, and St. Patrick’s Day was a major holiday. Her sister used to send us boxes of food and decorations, always including a bottle of green food coloring. My favorite thing was the loaf of green soda bread she always included. Getting that was one of the highlights of my year.

As it happens, my green jumper suit is one of the garments in the dryer at the moment. I’ll have to remember to wear it tomorrow. We’re supposed to bring a green or a “lucky” dessert to work tomorrow (I’ve never heard of a lucky dessert). That soda bread was good enough to qualify.

JK, Dorry wants to know if Diva Scoot will be wearing a “Kiss Me, I’m Irish” ribbon. Actually he tells me that he will assume that ALL the grrrl kitties will be wearing this ribbon! And that he will be most happy to comply! What a boyo! *wink*

Actually when I was a kid my mother specially ordered loaves of pink bread and green bread. 1 sandwich slice loaf in ea colour. Ghastly shades! And no idea why they were ordered either!
I would probably end up swallowing the coin and my only luck would be the opp to get my stomach pumped by a way cute doc, who would end up falling madly in love with me! Hehehe
Dorry getting the cold shoulder, Buttons? I would think not, considering his “charming” purrsonality and “extreme” good looks. (PS As I am writing this he’s reading over my shoulder.) *wink*

the video of the green hatted kitten took me from a dark, dreary hole to a happier spot today. On Friday, an evil, major nasty thing this way will come, and can’t be avoided.

Dorry forgives you for slighting him, Buttons. *wink*
    Hey all,
Would these not be purrfect? Should I order one for each of us? Purrhaps I could do a group buy and get a discount, plus super-fast Purrolator expedited delivery! Come on, you KNOW that you want one!

Katzenjammer, we’ll remember you on Bloomsday!

Many, many Montrealers, both French and English speaking are Irish or part Irish, and many Irish orphans were adopted after the arrival of the “coffin ships” after the Famine. We had one of the first St Pat’s day parades in North America – forget whether Boston or Montreal came first but they were about the same time.

Oh dear, X company is on, but I don’t know if I’ll watch it tonight; it gives me such bad dreams.

lagatta, it would be fun to be in Dublin on Bloomsday, I could outfit myself “Downton Abbey” style in keeping with the period and join in the fun, although I believe that some group in Montreal keeps up with this tradition!
Re “X Company” – it’s fabulous and I PVR it. I was getting bad dreams too, and I assumed that I was overly sensitive or something. Think that maybe I should watch it during the day. Plus one of the creators/exec producers was at uni same time that I was, we were in a G&S production together, she would not remember me at all but it’s neat when one sees a fellow student make it big in the media.
PS I finally got my ISP/phone company issues as mentioned yesterday solved, getting a credit for a promo that was not applied and hopefully all should be good going forward. πŸ™‚

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Thanks for getting the party started, Buttons. Miss Leela will feel so pretty in a green ribbon, she loves green! Comet and McMac will look smashing in their green bowties – they can’t wait to party!
My sister made soda bread and sent me home with some. I’ll be making Shepard’s Pie for dinner – we’re not fans of corn beef and cabbage.
Comet insists he is Amish, but Amish sounds like Irish, so he’s not sure. Mac “McMac” figures he’s entirely Irish. Leela, the kitten found all alone in the rain, has no idea, but thinks there’s as good a chance as any that she’s Irish. The girls are going to paint their claws a brilliant shade of green, just like Buttons’ bowtie!

    It’s actually KJ, JJ!
I believe that this is the only style on offer. But purrhaps store could custom design you a tank top for srs additional charge, or you could cut the sleeves off! *wink*
Now must make note to contact “Downton Abbey” costume dept and see if I can score me some smart threads for Bloomsday get-up. Like, the series is over, so they don’t need the costumes anymore. Right!

I’d love those costumes! Have to do something with my useless History degrees! Actually, I did some research and translation for the “Apocalypse” series about WWI.

I knew someone who was in the Resistance in Normandy when he was a very young man – as young as Harry the kid in X Company but much taller, and gangly the way overly tall teenagers are. He is still alive, and very old of course (about as old as Renzo!)

I also have a Parisian friend some years younger who was of Italian-Jewish origin who had to wear the yellow star in Paris. Her parents bought her roller skates – a big expense for them then – because she was no longer allowed to play in parks there, and her little friends would go out in the streets to share the skates. Their lives were saved by an Italian fascist bureaucrat who delivered them a certificate of “Aryanity”. Knowing Italy well, doubtless a combination of sncere human feeling and corruption. She is still alive and well, retired now of course.

Renzo is meowing at me to go to bed, and since he actually has seniority, I must obey!!!

Happy St Pat’s everyone! I’d like to make a stew with stout, but I’ve been avoiding red meat. Do I still observe Lent on some level???
