Hello! My name is Tammy and I live in Oklahoma City. I am companion to my three cats, Lilly (12), Bareil (3), and Nerys (2)(rhymes with “Denise”). I also have a Great Dane named Jadzia (4)(pronounced Jad-ZEE-uh) and a California kingsnake named Garak (rhymes with Derek)(age unknown). I also have a hubby who is an attorney.

In addition, I recently began fostering bottle baby kittens for our local animal shelter. Nerys was my first bottle baby and I found my true calling by raising her. I did intend to find her a different forever home but she came back after a week and I decided that giving her away once was enough, and she is mine now! She is one of the sweetest cats I’ve ever known and I don’t regret keeping her for a second!

My current charge is named Alpha. I’m using the NATO phonetic alphabet to name the first 26 fosters that I raise. After that, I have to find more names! She is 4 weeks old now and I’ve had her almost a week. She’s a beautiful medium haired tuxedo with a black smudge on her muzzle. After another month or so, she’ll be old enough to go back to the shelter to be spayed and to go to her forever home. The family that found her is interested in adopting her when she’s ready.

People ask me if I’ll be able to give up the foster kittens, and I think I will because there are hundreds of orphan kittens that show up at the shelter each year, so there will always be more that need my help. If I keep the current kitten(s) I can’t help the next ones!

I am excited to be a part of this community; it seems like a wonderful place!

Welcome Tammy! Sounds like you are busy with fostering, what a wonderful job! TDK can always use people who love to help others by sharing their experiences. Many people come here desperate for help with sick and injured kittens and newborns. AND guess what?! It’s kitten season!

    Hi Tammy,

Welcome to TDKland. We are the fluffiest and furriest feline site around! You have a well rounded family. 😉

It’s awesome you foster kits and give them a chance to find their furever home. Despite the name your kits don’t have to be kittens so purrhaps you will post pictures? Go to the “Add Your Kitten” link and follow the instructions.

    Check back often
