Okay, here’s the recipe for the nuts I’m thinking of taking to GG’s parents’ house. They’re easy and tasty!

    Ingredients for spice mix:

    2 tablespoons sugar

    3/4 teaspoon kosher salt

    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

    1/8 teaspoon allspice

    Ingredients for glaze:

    1 tablespoon water

    2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    1 teaspoon brown sugar

1 tablespoon canola or corn oil

As well as 2 cups of pecan, almond or walnut halves. I usually combine walnuts and pecans.

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spread nuts on baking sheet and toast 6 minutes or until fragrant and their color deepens slightly.

In medium-sized bowl, stir together spice mix.

In saucepan, combine glaze ingredients and bring to a boil over medium heat, whisking constantly.

Stir in toasted nuts and continue to stir until all nuts are shiny and the liquid is gone (about 1-2 min).

Move glazed nuts to mixing bowl, sprinkle on spice mix and toss well to coat.

Spread coated nuts on a cookie sheet and return them to the oven for 4 minutes. Check regularly to make sure they don’t burn.

    Remove and let cool.

They are easy enough that I can make them, CM, so you should be able to, as well 🙂

They smell so good when they’re baking in the oven. Anywhere I’ve brought them, they’ve been a hit. I usually bring them for something to munch on before dinner.

Mmmmmmm GD these sound delicious! Years ago I would make a coffee walnut that was very similar to your recipe. I’ve long lost the recipe but should find another one. They were really yummy too. =)

I hope you do, SM! I got it from an old neighbor. She used to make them every year around the holidays and I just had to have the recipe!

MMMM GD that does sound great! If you use the canola oil it will be very healthy since the sugar is not that much, and of course, unsalted nuts for WWM!

GD! I made your Holiday Nuts recipe. They smell absolutely divine and taste even better. They are still cooling at the moment so my tastebuds are a bit warm now. I used cashews, almonds, brazil, hazel, pine, peanut and pistachio nuts. I used Splenda instead of sugar and golden syrup(equivalent to corn syrup) as I had no brown sugar.

Once they have cooled I will put them into jars with pretty tops and give them to family as presents.

Yes KK, I’ll make sure there is a jar for you.

Thanks again GD for sharing your recipe. It’s brilliantly easy and delicious.
