Hi I recently got a kitten and she is about 11 weeks old .she is all around a vary healthy vary happy kitten and everything is great my question is she seems to fart a lot way more then any other of the animals I have ever been around and I’ve had three different dogs and she will be the fourth cat so I think I should be a pretty good judge of knowing how ofton that a animal farts would put them in a farts a lot category and not only me when I have company over they say the same thing “dang dude your kitten keeps cutting em ” so I’ve never in countered this before and don’t know if its a medical reason to worry about or a cat that just farts a lot ?

Gas is a result of stomach/intestinal upset. That could be cause by a reaction to her food or positive for giardia and chlamydia, both intestinal parasites. These two parasites are not normally tested for unless their some indication it needs to be. So you need to take a (fresh) fecal sample to her vet and have it tested. If it’s negative (hopefully, it will be) then you go to step two which is food. When I brought my 9 wk. girl home she was eating Blue Buffalo. I started her brother on that and whoa! He had gas. I started them Prescription Diet Urinary. My eldest cat had to eat that so they got it too. The gas went away. It’s possible she’s eating the doggie food. That doesn’t have any of the nutrients and can cause stomach upset.

For very young kits (usually abandoned) we recommend Goats milk. Goats’ milk is full of nutrients, probiotics and gentler on their tummies. This can also regulate the poop. It may be worth your time to get her some and see if that helps her tummy.

That’s the best advice I have but other TDKers may have different experiences.

Good luck and keep in touch. If your avatar is her, she is an absolute doll.
