Shiva the First Cat, summons the rest of the family to the edge of a shimmering blue lake. Inkspot and Kali come running to the side of their beloved “uncle”. Missy joins a moment later, and is followed by Casey who makes her entrance like the queen she truly is. “Stare at the water,” says Shiva, “and wait for the ripples.” Casey looks a bit doubtful, but suddenly she realizes what they are doing. “Yes! The center of the ripples will send a message to Mama!”

As I sit at my computer, the center of the ripples connects to the center of my eyes. And as the disturbance of the water causes it to spill onto the shore, so my eyes overflow. “My Babies! I’m so glad to know you’re thinking of me. I think of you all the time. Thank you so much for the visit. I love you all.”

If you find a bit of quiet time this afternoon/evening/overnight, listen for a chorus of purrs. They will be starting soon.

Whitefoots & Wild, sisters parted as kittens are there revelling in being in each others company along with their ‘siblings’ Smudge and Sharp. Whitefoots sons Nicky & Monty are chasing butterflies while their ‘Aunt’ Mitzi watches on with a smile.

Usually this time of night I hear crickets, frogs and sometimes coyotes.

    Tonight there is another sound…

Joan, your poem brought tears to my eyes thinking of our furry babies.

Simba James, I will never forget how you didn’t want me, GMA(Grandma) to leave and sat on my lap. And you slept next to me when I visited. And your “crabby hat” that you wore for me so I could take a picture.

Little Callie May, who was taken from us just 2 weeks after Simba.

Thinking of Pfeffer, Jetta, Mokie, Whitefoot and her babies, my bestest furry buddy Chinook who was always there for me.

    Willow, Katza.

And the goggies; Mandy, Desi, Sunny.

To all of you from all of us….. We Miss You. You are always in our hearts. We love you.

I must add that I did not write the poem I posted. As far as I know it’s ‘author unknown’. Someone emailed or posted it when either Shaddo or Jiggs died. I thought it was really nice, though.

Sadly, the butterflies in the Meadow have some additional meaning in this thread. Extensive brush ‘cleanup’ was done at that place and they took down a butterfly bush. I am sick for the teacher who worked so hard on it, and sad for the students who will no doubt ask what happened.

Joan, oh that is sad about the butterfly bush being taken down as a weed or brush.

I truly miss all those who have departed from this plane onto the next, Thomas aka Thomasina, Kinker my beautiful Grey Tabby boy, Max my quiet Flame Point with beautiful blue eyes, Ms. B little “big boned girl” who was a my go to girl (the kitty running with the can opener saying reminds me of her and her love for food), Zeus my big headed Rottie who thought all kitties were his especially Haje and his sis, Ms. B 🙂 There were others from years ago, goggies Wendy, Happy, Gottman, Mishka and others.

I start crying every time I visit here. It’s so painful to think about so many losses. I miss all my furbabies…Dweeb(’97),BUNNY(’05),JULIE(’07),Cowboy(’08),Booty(’08),Binky(’09),SQUEEKERS(’10),WINNIE(’11),Hopper(’11),& Buddy(’12). I don’t like to play favorites but the ones in lg.letters were my favorites & odd that they were all female. I could notch them down once more but it becomes a complete tie between my babies JULIE & WINNIE.

I’m sorry you all had to leave me so early but I Love & Miss you all & will see you at the meadow when my time comes. Until then…your all in my thoughts…always…Love Mommy!!

I remember Cowboy well, Feral. You were worried about him when Jiggs died; Jiggs helped welcome him to the Meadow shortly after he got there, just as HM’s Sebastian welcomed Jiggs. Sebastian got there about 2 weeks before Jiggs.

But it’s all a blink of an eye for them.

A goggie who is very special to me has joined the celebration at the Meadow. Fawn, a Collie/Shepard mix, crossed the bridge with her mama, my Aunt M just last year, and joined Uncle V. I didn’t know too many dogs when I was little, but I loved Fawn very much. She always knocked me down when I went to play with her, Aunt M worried, and I never minded. Hi Fawn! I’ll never forget you!

Thanks, Joan, even though I now have tears streaming down my face. It’s amazing how our hearts never completely heal, they all take a piece with them, to be returned when we see them again someday.

I agree Sheba’s Mom. I’ve been owned by many black cats, and though they look similar, they are so different and have left very different paw prints on my heart.
