Good morning! Aww, poor kitty wants her feather on a string! That would be Emily. Of course, Emily probably wouldn’t be rescued because she wouldn’t come out from under the bed. Eko and Leo probably wouldn’t either. :(.

KJ, love your new dishes. I love simple, clean patterns as well. Mine are white with one thick and one thin dark blue line around the edge. I’ve had them since I was a single gal. They are still made so I can add pieces if they break. Anyways, I have a “thing” for attractive dishes and serving pieces. New sets catch my eye all the time, but I still love mine so no new sets. But I do have fun collecting serving pieces, mugs, cute little dessert bowls, pitchers and other things that will go with them.

Good morning KJ, ECB! LOVE the theme and pics for today! Have been in many fires where pets were rescued–including fish in aquariums! This is not an easy task as water has to be removed and top covered to keep the foam suppressant from getting in the water and killing the fish. The pic of the FF with the pony tail holding the cat could be me not so long ago. How I miss it!
I didn’t see the pic of the new dishes!! May have to go back and see if I can find it. I love so many patterns of dishes which is one of the biggest reasons I don’t own china. I can’t decide on just one I like the best. I’m like you ECB, give me a plain dish with a simple pattern, then I can mix and match later!

Good morning – poor grey kitty wanting feather on a stick. Looks just like Shaddo, except I put a pink flea collar on him and he scrunched his neck up – it seemed he knew it was a girl color, and what if the guys saw?
KZ, were you a firefighter? I don’t think I knew that about you. How awesome!
Meant to say yesterday that while walking I watched the great blue heron glide from one side of the lake to the other. So beautiful!
A bit of bad news. Papa Tux is not doing well. Saw him this morning when I came back from walking. He was walking across the road to my driveway, and at first I thought he was stalking a squirrel that was close by (didn’t have my glasses on) but then saw that he was having trouble walking. No apparent injury, he’s just old and worn out. I brought a dish of food out and he ate some, and when I brought more, he hissed and tried to run but he kept falling over. He settled down by my truck and I put the food down for him, which he ate more of. He has gotten thin lately and now he’s quite wobbly. Sad to see the once proud majestic king of the colony so poorly. Hoping nature takes its course and Papa Tux lays down in a soft bed of leaves and floats to the Meadow with as little discomfort as possible.

Aww, Joan. I hope he goes peacefully as well.

Yes, do tell, KZ. How have you had so much fire experience?

Taking the kiddos for a short trip to the zoo after lunch. Have to be home in time to assemble the chicken and dumplings. Already have the chicken and broth made.

Awwww poor Papa Tux…. Bless his heart… SO sad…
Joan, how cool that you saw the heron fly across the lake. They are beautiful! I LOVE that you go for a walk every day!
When I put the garbage bags up the hill, I walked around my yard picking up some pieces of garbage that blew down from neighbor’s house, neighbor’s deflated toy ball, and my old broken bird feeder etc. Put them in a bag and took them up too. Picked up some broken sticks on the lawn too. I took down & brought in my extra clothesline to put away as well. Saw several piles of empty nut shells in a few places, maybe Hickory nuts? Squirrels have been very busy!
I see it rained a bit overnight. After I came back in, it poured for a few minutes, the sun came out, and now it’s cloudy again! I had places I wanted to go today, but not if it’s gonna pour rain!
Bless each and every precious fire fighter!!! What a difference they make for all of us!! *Clapping……
The leaves are really changing and are SO very pretty!
My dishes are Corelle Ware and have a thin blue design around them. I did get more pieces that I needed that are all white. My daughter had some palm tree stoneware, but they are just too heavy to use.
Still no sighting of the hummies. Guess they are gone. I have bushes of poke berries and see the chipmunks climbing them and taking the berries under my house, UGH! What a mess that will be! I hear them under the heat vents every now and then. I worry they will chew wires and cause a fire. I heard that happened to a woman… a squirrel chewed wires under her mobile home and caused a fire.

Sad re Papa Tux, but if it is fated I truly hope that he “goes gentle into that good night.” Falls asleep and awakens in the Meadow, his youth and health fully restored. 🙁
I esp like the “ask her on a date/kits in trees” pic!
Congrats JK on your kitteh-catching skills. You’re a lifesaver!
Tks guys for compliments on dishes as waiting for Sunday p/u before they are settled in my cupboards. My current set is at least over 10 yrs old, missing key pieces, etc. Not that I entertain, but I like things to be (well) ordered.
KZ, you were a firefighter??? Awesome!
Just (re)called vet as Dorry has done the one function but not peed in new litter box as yet. Was told to give it a few days even as he hardly drinks and mainly to chill and stop stressing myself and esp him. Good thing that they don’t have caller display, else I think my calls might be ignored in short order LOL. Obsessive? Moi? Hmmm …

I don’t where my pics went yesterday. I love all the pics and theme today…feathers on a stick!!! All firefighters are Heros. I thank them for always being on the ready.

I haven’t decided what to do today. Happy weekend to everyone who’s outta here.

You can always kick back and do nothin’ PG! 🙂
Yup, Photobucket works in mysterious ways as in sometimes it chooses not to post one of six pics and I have to re-upload, or ads block certain functions. But hey, it’s free so whatever.
Dorry finally did the 2nd litterbox shuffle and I did a discreet happy dance so as not to alarm him.
Sharing a hair styling trick that purrhaps everyone but me already knows of. I can work with my hair pretty easily, but my “master stylist” has advantage of stronger (ie heavier dryer,) stronger arms, and he’s standing above me. So found me some Velcro rollers in different sizes for $1/5 or 6 depending on size in Dollar Store. Ideal for styling crown/bangs. They roll in easily, none of those nasty spikey pins of yesteryear. Used on almost dry hair, it’s like someone is using purrfect round brush, yet hands-free. Then I turn on heat and /or sometimes just leave them in for a few. When I unroll them, purrfect bangs as not flat or too floofy. Plus they lasted with bit of hair spray through today’s omnipresent rain/humidity.

KJ, your dish pattern/color is very nice. I have corelle that’s white with rippled edges.
Hope you guys had lots of fun at the zoo, ECB!
Good job on the wee tabby catch, JK!
Hey KJ, I have some of those rollers – they really are super-easy to work with. My hair is so fine the curl holds for about ten minutes!
Getting some heavy rain after a cloudy day. Supposed to clear out by Caturday.

Wanted to get back in here before now, but just couldn’t! Had hair appointment and sooo glad I did, my hair is almost all one length again and looking like ME!
Yes, I grew up at the Fire Department, as my dad was a FF. Then, later on after my dad had passed, I joined the volunteer organization that helps with fires/ EMS calls and Rehab. I took the Level 1 FF course to enable me to be able to fight fires with the paid FF’s. Loved every aspect of that job. The training was very tough, and a few times thought I was going to croak. Especially going up the ladder at 80 ft. and climbing the side of the building during our ladder training. Fear and adrenaline was my friend, and every time the tones dropped, my heart was in my throat. I wish I had known how much I loved that job when I was younger as I might have decided on a different career. BUT women weren’t in the fire service then as they are now. *sigh* but somehow maybe I opened up a path for others after me. It adds a whole new dimension to a fire scene to have a woman on the engine….. 🙂

That’s so awesome, KZ! To be a part of the “boy’s club” and making your mark in taking the barriers down is so cool! Plus the work sounds very tough, but very rewarding.
