Love the tree, JK – have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful weekend!
Hubby went on a litter run too, KJ, and picked up a few other things.
There very well may have been magic involved, PG. Every year I hang a starfish ornament at the bottom of the tree, the ornament that Shaddo sent spinning wildly after getting a taste of scrambled eggs and cheese on Christmas morning. I keep it there just in case he wants to come back and give it a spin.
Had a visit from late neighbor’s daughter today. She wanted to see how I was doing with the cats and sneak a peek at her mom’s house. When she went out the back door I heard her say, “Oh, there’s Roberta!” referring to Berta sleeping on the chair outside. Her voice cracked as she spoke, she loved that little dilute calico the most and was honored that I named her for her mother. She brought a case of cat food, wasn’t that nice? I gave her a rustic “Merry Christmas” wooden sign that I bought at the market, not knowing who I was buying it for. I thought it would be nice for her to be able to bring a little bit of Shady Lake home with her.
Due to having company, I managed to do some decorating and cleaning, at the expense of upstairs, which is a flurry of boxes and stuff I needed out of the way! I even decorated the row of outdoor shelters with a bit of garland and a couple of ornaments. I finished decorating the little tree in the front yard too. It’s had lights on for a few weeks, but needed ornaments. Originally it was “Leela’s Tree”, since due to the home reno she didn’t have a Christmas tree on her first Christmas, but with the arrival of Comet, then Mac, and by extension the JJ crew, is now known as “The Cats’ Tree”. Ironically, it was given to us by our elderly neighbors; Russ and Roberta were still ambulatory enough to come over and see it when we planted it.
