Penguins are a group of well-dressed, dapper aquatic, flightless birds. They live almost exclusively in the Southern Hemisphere, with only one species, the Galapagos penguin, found north of the equator. They spend about half of their lives on land and half in the oceans.

Although almost all penguin species are native to the Southern Hemisphere, they are not found only in cold climates, such as Antarctica. In fact, only a few species of penguin live so far south. Several species are found in the temperate zone, and one species, the Galápagos penguin, lives near the equator.

I love the one where Jeff and Doug have disappeared….
Penguins are some of the funniest and cutest creatures I’ve ever seen in our world. Maybe this is the time to watch “March of the Penguins.”

So, do penguins have knees? Although you cannot see them and they walk quite strange, of course they have knees. If penguins were without knees they would not be able to lower themselves down to cover their eggs or crouch down to get into the water. Their knees are hidden underneath their nice warm feathers to protect them from the hostile temperatures of Antarctica. The waddle walk of the penguin is not because of lack of knees but rather due to their super short legs that http://www.factsaboutpenguins.net

It is so Friday. Let us go forth and enjoy…

Yes, penguins and tuxie cats are part of a secret brotherhood of fish-eaters.

by the way, I’m lagatta, but can’t seem to log in with my usual name, so I’m lagatta4. Hope it will be a temporary condition!

I’m so glad it’s Friday! Really love the penguin pics and of course the cats pretending to be penguins! Willow can do his penguin impersonation quite well too.

Well, I officially have some type of ‘crud’. The timing couldn’t be worse, with my surgery scheduled for Monday. 😥 Started feeling funky on Wed. evening, coughed all day yesterday so called the Dr. today to get (hopefully) some meds. Called the surgeon’s office and the nurse told me they would determine whether they would go forward with the surgery on the morning of surgery–determination probably being made by the anesthesiologist. I can’t believe this. I have even stayed in and not gone out and about just because of this very reason.

And first thing this morning there was an active shooter in one of our county schools, not 4 miles from where I live. WTF! All schools in the area went into lockdown, but are now back to regular classes. The shooter was apprehended and I think one student was shot. 😡

Morning all! …. beautiful day here, and will be also tomorrow for our 1st Gasparilla parade! …. Penguins are funny animals …. I always love the penguin exhibit at our local zoo and at the Disney zoo …..

The streets are already being blocked off, so I’m headed to stock up on food, and plan to hunker down for the weekend! Have a great TGIF everyone!!

Morning everyone, it has been forever it seems that I have visited TDK.

Oh Kittyzee that is scary about the active shooter! Glad that they got the person, hope that the one student who was shot was only a minor injury (sucks that it was any injury).

Hope that you feel better for your surgery.

Oh no KZ!!!! I’m hoping that the weekend sees your crud ending and that your surgery can go ahead as scheduled. When I light the Sabbath candles later I like to take a moment to think about certain peeps and I will pray for you. Take care and rest up.

Deb, I am watching the inauguration too. I like pomp and circumstance. For sure there is a huge turnout. And I am not political and I am not a US citizen so no point anyway (we have our own stuff going on in Canada!) But I will say that the First Lady’s outfit is awesome.

Off to Knitting Circle, then back for srs rest as legs crampy from a surfeit of tough workouts all week.

KZ-drink lots water and Ginger and/or Peppermint tea.

Best foods: Magnesium-containing foods include nuts, bananas, beans, leafy greens, and avocados. Foods high in calcium such as canned salmon, yogurt, dark-green leafy greens, and orange juice fortified with calcium also lessen any muscle pain. Take 1 tsp. of Turmeric twice a day. If you can’t stand the taste, get the capsules. Turmeric is a spice known for its anti-inflammatory properties. I hate the taste so I take the capsules.

Ask MR. KZ if he can handle the day to day until you’re back home.

Pen-goo-ins!!! Adorable and funny, silly on land and graceful in the water. Beautiful birds.
Thank you for the penguins-have-knees info. I learned something today!
Hi Lagatta, you’re incognito today! (though I recognized your screen name, of course)
Geez, KZ, could the timing of the crud be any worse? Hope you are able to fend it off and/or shake it so it doesn’t interfere with the scheduled surgery.
Wow, I heard nothing about the shooting by you. Another statistic. Sad.
Hi Deb, it’s always nice when you stop in. Hope you are well!
    Have a restful Sabbath, KJ.
I spent some time with niece and baby Tyler – he’s 3 months old today! He’s wearing his ‘Future President’ t-shirt.
Watching the inauguration today I couldn’t help noticing a sea of red ties and blue ties. How cool would it have been if they all ditched their party’s color and opted for a nice fancy gold tie? I thought the First Lady looked good.
Michele looked pretty much done towards the end, and I imagined her turning at the top of the stairs to the helicopter and doing a Nixon-esque double peace sign and saying, “Later, bitches – peace out!”. Once in the chopper, she ditches the shoes, jacket, bra and sips a nice rum swizzle…

Bahahahaaa! JJ, I love the picture you drew of Michele aboard the chopper after the days rigorous festivities! From the shows I’ve watched, they both are ready to move on. She said more than once, how hard it was to be first lady–I can’t even imagine.

I know, the timing of this illness just SUCKS! I have an antibiotic, whether I need it or not, and some cough medicine too. Thank you everyone for your helpful tips on keeping and staying well. Mr. KZ has been very good about helping out around here lately and this stuff is so contagious, I’ll be surprised if everyone around me doesn’t come down with it. I just want this surgery to go on without any more glitches, but the doctors will have to make that call I guess. KJ, I would certainly appreciate a prayer said for me as you light your sabbath candle, that touches my heart. I am so weepy right now….. 😥

Joan, made me laugh at the outgoing picture of Michelle! The pomp and circumstance was nice, and I loved Melania’s outfit 🙂
