Good afternoon, all. Boys and I are almost done baking sweet breads for Christmas morning….pumpkin and cranberry. We’ll stick them in the freezer to keep them fresh. We’ll bake Christmas cookies on Mon/Tues (chocolate crinkles and gingerbread men….boys’choices) so they’ll be fresh for Christmas. Making my grocery list and checking it twice. Hubby’s parents are coming to spend a night or two and will be here for Christmas. Fun to have visitors. It’s usually just the four of us.

Sorry about the coat JK, but Happy Hanukkah to you – nice gift, with the added bonus of a treat for Dorry’s eyes!
ECB, those breads smell delicious – yes, the wormhole is open and the yummy aroma is great – puts me in the holiday spirit!
Trying to wash the tablecloth. As in, have to clean off the table to get to it. Since there’s just the 2 of us at the table, & we never took the leaf out from last year, that far end has collected everything from outdoor stuff that needs fixing/glueing, crafts/projects I haven’t gotten to, to stuff from my old truck and stuff from my former office (yes, it’s my stuff, no stolen pens!). Want to decorate, but I have to clean/clear out.

Good Morning All and nighty night MS,

I should have had a oatmeal muffin instead of what I did-leftover chocolate peanut butter candy. UGh-thankfully I gave the majority out yesterday and that’s the last of it.

Cats I love, feed and play with them, give them nips and still all I’ve gotten this morning is the look. I lived in Connecticut for 4 years and I remember the traffic. I don’t envy you, Joan.

OH, no KJ-you killed your coat? You say it was an accident but did you just want a new one? Anyway, I’m glad you got a nice down coat so you’ll be warm and cozy for Hanukkah and all year.

I have a big apology to all – I was confused (well, I can’t apologize for that). When the word went around about a card list, I thought it was an email list. I figured my email address was on my profile so I didn’t pursue it. Since then I discovered it was a snail mail list. Boy, I feel silly ๐Ÿ˜ณ . I will get it straight next year.

I off to do something, have a happy ~

PG it was 100% an accident and stupid on my part.
Joan I think you meant KJ as moi as getting new coat? Purrhaps JK also got a new coat? Oh, what the “hay” new coats all around for everyone in the Cafรฉ (not) my treat! LOL. And now I know how Dorry might behave down on the farm, the feathery ducks and geese would have a natural predator!!!

Afternoon all! …. on the home stretch now, with imputing and being finished/done with work till after the holidays! …. PG, I looked for your address, but I couldn’t find it on the card list ๐Ÿ™ …. but happy holidays, my friend! all the best to you and yours!!

…. KJ, I had to LOL at the coat assassination ….. I have had my washer/dryer ‘eat’ items (usually something I really favor) …. personally, I think it’s a conspiracy …. just throwing that out there ๐Ÿ˜‰

…. Joan, I HATE washing table cloths, cause I DONT iron, so I’m at the mercy of the dryer, waiting for the exact second it stops, so that I can snatch the cloth out and spread it out on the table, so wrinkles don’t set in ….. sometimes they do anyway, if it gets too dry …. it’s always an ‘iffy’ game I play ….

…. EC, those sweet breads sound heavenly, I’ll be the house smells srumptious too!

…. headed back in to finish up, *waves* have a great rest of your Friday, everyone!

BTW, does anyone have one of the ‘big green egg’ type of grills? Mr. AV wants me to look at them, but I’m just not sure … any comments would be appreciated!

Hi PG, I didn’t eat before going out, which can be dangerous as to my meal decisions on my return. Not too bad today, had leftover Mac & cheese (see how auto correct capitalizes the “M” in Mac – hehe). Anyway not bad considering I bought chocolate…
Yes, KJ, I was thinking of you – fingers apparently got tangled!

It is indeed a conspiracy AV! LOL
Well before I take off ’til Caturday nite I’ll admit to another experience that was again accidental and of the will need hazeling variety. Was polishing boots in hallway as don’t want my Dorry to get whiff of fumes. As I gave it a good shake (bottle, not Dorry) sponge cap flew off basically leaving unsightly spots on hall carpet. The hall that belongs to condo, not to me! Called administrator who as also has purry as Abby understood my not wanting to use chemical stuff in my place. So there is some stuff that cleans carpet section and stains are not all that noticeable anyway. Bought the product and guess what, our not so superintendent won’t clean it as “not my job” attitude. Yet he cleans the rest of carpet where peeps track in mud, etc. Friend/hazel warned me not to start messing with even safe chemicals (she knows me all too well), so she will take care of it. Sort of funny in retrospect as polish also got on my skirt and washed out purrfectly. Boots are clean though and thank goodness Dorry didn’t discover and swallow sponge cap!
Have a good Caturday Cafรฉ denizens!

Good morning all, it’s Saturday here ! ! Doesn’t mean the work stops though sadly. I’ve been busy hand washing my net curtains and rolling up the garden hoses so the lawn man can mow the lawns.
KZ, LOL @ the antics of your cats, Mum always called those actions as “the cats got the wind up”. I love watching cats doing crazy stuff like that, it’s like their true cat nature is showing.
Joan, LOL @ Comet and his wild impression.
Deb, waving to you and hopefully waving away the procrastination. Guess I am procrastinating a bit at the moment as there is plenty I should be doing but I’d rather be chatting with my TDK family. ๐Ÿ˜€ Lovely pics of Christmas decorations and lights.
Great looking recipe and so easy, perfect for a cold night.
Waving to Nirmal, great to see you back. ๐Ÿ™‚
KJ, the postie got your card to me, thank you so much. ๐Ÿ˜€ Oh dear for your poor coat but I had to laugh at the image of Dorry watching the feathers floating around. Yay for the new coat.
ECB, your baking sounds delicious – sniff sniff – I do believe I can smell them too, the wormhole must be open, maybe Shadz popped through to play with your kits.
Joan, LOL at your table, will have to do the same to mine and it is covered at one end with my garden solar lights which have stopped working but with a clean up, new battery and clear nail polish on the solar panel will work again. I am a fiddler with things, I love seeing how they work and repairing them,so there are screws and mini screwdrivers and batteries and all sorts to be moved before I can find that end of the table.
PG, Merry Christmas, as you say there is always next year.
AV, I DON’T iron either! I hate it because the iron hurts my hands too much and I don’t have arthritis in them either.
KJ, I hope the carpet cleans up as easily as your skirt.

Not a fan of ironing either, which is why I promptly took the tablecloth out if the dryer and put it on the table. Then Comet jumped on it. Then he decided to make a fort of it under the table. I went upstairs to pout.
Cats “got the wind up” – good expression!

Lol. I like “got the wind up” too. My husband calls it the “zips”. I shared that the cats had the zips one night on Facebook and all the cat people shared what they call it at their house. It was too funny. Only one I remember off hand was “the floor show.”

I just bought shoe polish today, KJ…but cream, thankfully…lol.

The kitties would love to have Shadz over to play, MS. I was just wishing today Emily had another girl cat around. Though she does love playing chase with Eko. Maybe Shadz will join in!

I’ve had a quiet day today. the amputated foot was very painful and I ended up taking my full amount of painkiller. I watched tv until I fell asleep. its OK because it was very cold today – 26 degrees. and my sheets are flannel. I even canceled my ride to the senior center. I will go there Monday because it is my birthday on the 22nd and the senior enter is having us bake cookies as an activity…

Catching up on reading today’s thread…so cute MS, my cats did “get their wind up” and when they were done they all picked a chair top and collapsed! I think it’s funny how they like to lay on the top of the sofa or the top of a chair…silly things!
Aw KJ, I know I’ve really got my undies in a bundle over this card thing, but I ran out today after the mailman came, and no returned card. Oh no. Well, I owe you a JD neat, for sure then if it doesn’t come back to me. I just hope YOU get it.
Loving the smell of the fresh bread ECB, I think someone’s kit left the wormhole open, but then I’m glad they did…it’s divine! So glad you will have company for a couple of days and especially grandparents to see your boys on Christmas morning! Very sweet! AND you are very lucky that you get on so well with them.
Hi BB *waves*, I was thinking of you when you said you were always cold and your bones hurt from it when I got into bed last night. My sister bought us fleece sheets for a gift last year and they are absolutely the warmest, most wonderful things EVER when you are cold and hurting. I don’t know if you’ve ever tried them (they would be too warm for warmer climes) but here in the winter they are DIVINE!
Cheri, so sorry your foot is paining you and hope it lets up, sometimes things seem to hurt more when it’s cold and damp.
Joan, laughing WITH you not AT you about your table and tablecloth. When I put one on the table it’s the cats’ invitation to just lay all over and hair it up…they think I’ve put a bedspread on their favorite place to lay, LOL!
Oh, a funny thing to share: we were out to dinner tonight and standing at the salad bar, when Mr. KZ reached over and plucked something off my jacket (black) and said “I had to–it was a big, white cat whisker sticking up on your shoulder!” ๐Ÿ˜ฏ Honestly.

Hi all, back inside for lunch and only half way through pruning the excess growth from the grapes so the sun can reach the bunches and ripen them.
I haven’t seen Shadz for ages so I think she has slipped through the wormhole to play with Emily @ ECB’s.
Maybe we need a thread for all the names we call it when the cats go crazy. ๐Ÿ˜€
Joan, ๐Ÿ˜ sorry about comet & the tablecloth. At least while you pout you can have time with Miss Leela while Comet is busy constructing his fort.
Cheri sorry about the phantom pains in the foot. Snuggle up and keep warm and have a great time on Monday at the Senior Centre.
KZ, thanks for the LOL with your ‘undies in a bundle’ comment, the phrase I use the most is ‘knickers in a knot’ but there are so many similar delightfully descriptive saying. Snert! at the cat whisker on the shoulder.
    Waving to AV.

Deb, hope you see this. Our beautiful hot sunny day has now descended into light rain with heavy bursts forecast for later and of course the temperature has dropped. Aha ! The perfect opportunity for me to make the recipe you posted back at the beginning of the Cafe. I’m going to do it in my cast iron pan too. Should go nicely with baked chicken breasts and kale chips.
I finally got the grape vines pruned so the bunches of small fruit can get some dappled sunlight, while Mr MS has closed off one end under the balcony so we have a lower deck area that no longer gets blasted by wind that whips under the balcony. The builder that has been helping with the heavy work to spare Mr MS’s arm popped in unexpectedly and has given the work the thumbs up. Finally after a long long time I am getting the balcony & deck area I wished we had when the girls were little instead of grown up and left home but that’s life.
