For Americans, the Bill of Rights are key amendments to the U.S. Constitution, protecting individual rights. Now if kits had an “official” Bill of Rights …

Yes, I agree, all cats are purrrfect! They are all unique individuals in their own way, all created with perfection in mind.

YAY, it’s Friday! Very dark here at the moment, even though it should be more daylight outside…not sure what that means, maybe cloudy at the moment. It won’t be long until the winter solstice, in which it means that we slide toward more daylight each day and warmer temperatures. I swear the temps don’t bother me as much as the dark at 5:30 pm does!

Peso and Bowtie are cutting capers through the downstairs at the moment, and if they don’t slow down, I’m going to have to intervene. They are going to knock something over and I swear if they wake Avery up…..!!!! 😮

I just have to share this, because I am so proud…a young firefighter that was on the shift that I volunteered with (and actually dated my youngest daughter for a short while) was called out on a rollover accident yesterday. Upon arriving at the scene, the car burst into flames. He masked up and went in after her cutting her loose, as she was trapped. He saved her life!! Never thinking twice…thank you Brian for brave actions..I know it’s what you do, but you are my hero.

Wonderful, kittyzee! I presume you aren’t referring to your own daughter, but to whoever was driving the car that burst into flames?

    Congratulations to the hero!!!

As for rights, I don’t know how applicable the term “animal rights” is, but there is definitely such a thing as the “rights of nature”, and statutes ensuring the protection of non-human animals and an end to cruel treatments.

For example, the Canadian province of Nova Scotia is outlawing so-called “declawing” of cats (actually amputation of the first joint of their paws, which is a hard thing to write while typing with the first joint of my own)

    https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/nova-scotia-becomes-first-province-to-ban-declawing-domestic-cats/article37314500/

Here in Montréal, the new city administration has promised several improvements in terms of animal welfare. We’ll see…

Hi all – KZ, paws up for your friend Brian, well done!

It’s been mighty cold here in Jersey, and snow has just begun to fall. I was just noticing this morning how dark it is at 6am. Looking forward to when there’s more daylight!

Jersey, I live about due north of you; Livia woke me up at 6 a.m. Normally I get up a bit earlier, but right now it is pitch black at that hour. I did get up and fed her (I like to get up very early; I usually work at home but get a lot more work done rising and turning in early) but would have liked to go back to bed as it is very, very cold here (a bit less horrible now). It seems that the cold extends far down the eastern half of North America, and there is also a lot of cold and snow in Europe.

Jeankit, thanks for the animals’ bill of rights.

    “Chag Sameach!”, KJ! ……

Lagatta, you are like my hubby …. he likes to get up very early too! He comes down to the office and works from 5am to about 7:30 (when I get up), and gets all his computer work done, so that when I start my day, he’s not in my way (we share a main work computer).

I’m so impressed with the whole on-line/delivery system for shopping this year! All my gifts have arrived, no issues whatsoever …. I’ll never go back to the mall/rat race ever! …..

Well, I’ve apparently ‘converted’ Miss Caddy to a wet-food addict! …. girl now asks for it 3-4 times a day, and Hoovers it! …. of course, picky – has to be tuna with cheese in a creamy sauce (and no OTHER flavor), but she loves it! When we got her, she had never had wet food, so I started giving it to her a little taste at a time, and now she has definitely developed a fondness for it … still enjoys her crunchies, but I’m glad she’s eating both … she is healthy as a horse, and has the most beautiful coat! ….. Son’s girls like it, and of course, it’s all Abby gets ….
Dude and Walter will soon enjoy it also! …. Today I bought a ‘giant’ litter box, as the boys are giant (14 & 16 lb) cats! LOL ….. I think we’re ready, the 3rd floor is as ‘Walter-proof’ as we could make it, so we’ll see! …. I’m sure I’ll be posting their ‘adventures’ all holidays long! Mr. AV even pulled out the cat stroller in case Son or Dau want to take their kits out for a walk!

Well, Friday is always date night for us, so I’m headed out to bullying Mr. AV into going Asian tonight, have a great one all!

Finally made it into the Cafe. It’s a stinkin hot day here. I took HRH Shadz to the vet this morning mainly for my own peace of mind over her loss of appetite and weight. She has lost 500g(17oz) in the last 6-8 weeks and picks at her food. Mo temperature, her stomatitis was a little red so she got a steroid shot to settle that down and her removed a ton of dirt from her ears. She was a total sweetheart and just let him do everything with only a token show of resistance. Since we came home she has had three small meals – all on the balcony of course. The vet thinks some of it is the heat affecting her and also possibly her age. He has known her longer than we have by a couple of weeks.

Sunrise today at 5.48am and I was up at 5.45am. Yawwwwwwwwwwn
Actually that time of day is rather pleasant, no children wailing and arguing outside and I can watch the ducks, geese and hens pecking around in the paddock below us.
    Sunset is at 8.34pm.
We are now on water restrictions. Using of hoses only for a couple of hours morning and evening and the hose must be held. No sprinklers or washing down of driveways or paths. Watering can use encouraged.
    Hello Summer !

I saw some lovely shoes (trainers, but really for urban walking) and loafers from New Zealand, called “all birds”. They are made from merino wool, and look so comfy! They are casual shoes of course, but attractive enough to wear with a casual skirt and opaque tights. I wrote to the company to inquire about availability in Canada.

There were a couple of articles in newspapers and on websites about the possibility of enacting no-phalanx-amputation (“declawing”) here in Québec. Some fear that this could mean more abandoned cats, as som ijuts would prefer their sofas over the bodily integrity of their pussycats. I don’t own a sofa, by the way. Except for my mattress of course, I have only hard wooden furniture, with cushions if need be. Livia started clawing an antique table, and I enclosed the legs in bubble wrap, but a friend whose cat died (alas; I really liked that cat, and took care of her often) gave me a spray can of repellent. So between that and her scratching post, she leaves the table alone.

I have a friend who is a vet in a smaller city, and their clinic doesn’t do declawing, unless of course the claw is so damaged that it has to be removed for medical reasons.
