Veterans’s Day/Remembrance Day honours all members of the Armed Forces who served their countries valiantly. At times making the ultimate sacrifice.

Thanks for the wonderful and thoughtful images, KJ.

We’re looking at the weekend! For those who take off for the weekend, enjoy.

I’m watching “The Fall” with Gillian Anderson…Good series.
The electric blankie was first turned on last night. The gang is already in bed. Maybe tonight we sleep in the whole bed.

    Have a happy~

Morning all! Happy Veterans day! …. my new SIL did two tours in Iraq …. we are very proud of him, and honor his service and all veterans!

Today was the coolest morning so far this year, and it felt wonderful! ….. actually made me actually want to go get a sweater when I went out to feed Miss Caddy ….. she has a cat door to our golf repair shed, which inside has her cat house which is warm and covered with a fleece bottom and I even have a pet heating pad to put in it when/if it’s going to get really cold …. its the same place her water/food bowls are, so it’s her ‘haven’ sheltered and safe from predators …..

tonite we take Mr. AV and my Mother to our country club for Birthday dinner …. meeting Sis and family …. should be fun!

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think I’ve developed an allergy to peanuts! ….. I’ve been eating them for the last few weeks, and I have a chronic cough, runny nose and constricting throat … at first I thought I was getting a cold, but it won’t go away, and other than that, I don’t feel headachey or feverish …. Finally I realized I hadn’t eaten any peanuts in several years, so this is the only thing I could attribute it to ! *sighs* I love boiled peanuts, this makes me sad!

Well, better get to my TGIF – have a great day all!

Happy Veteran’s Day! “No fite, just rubs” is one of my all time favorite pics. Had it framed and hanging in my office for many years.
I see the agency kitties have decked out the TDK lounge, proudly displaying flags and photos. Some are learning some basic training, such as standing at attention and how to properly salute.
I used to visit my elderly neighbor on Veteran’s Day. We would snack on whatever treat I brought, and he would tell war stories, usually while cradling a kitty. I took a pic of him with a litter of kittens, framed it and gave it to his wife after he died, dated 11/11/11. Pretty sure those kittens are the current JJ crew.
Have not seen “The Fall”, PG, I’ll look for it. I like Gillian Anderson. I’m sure the crew enjoyed the warm blankie!
Caddy has a nice setup! Good to have her safe and comfy. Oh no, a peanut allergy, AV? I guess GD’s holiday nuts won’t be on your menu this year.
It’s getting windy here in Jersey, though the sun is shining.

    Happy Armistice and Veterans Day!

Love the mad cat pic, MS.

A Salute to your SIL, AV. Bummer about the peanuts-they’re such a good snack. 🙁 Have a good dinner.

The nighttime temp. finally reached 30f/-1c but the daytime temps. are 70f/21c. Very strange indeed.

Paw up waving g’morning with TGIF!
Sorry, don’t want to offend anyone with this post!
Well, this sort of goes with urgency as today’s title/theme:

Yes, it’s political but felt I would share since read few
comments from yesterday regarding US Election outcome:
It’s a petition to add Hillary’s name to Electoral votes since
    she won popular vote.
    SOS: Just sign once/send – don’t donate – yes, it’s legit – let
your voice be heard as democracy in action!

    petition:
    https://www.change.org/p/electoral-college-electors-electoral-college-make-hillary-clinton-president-on-december-19

    Taken from article:
(Mr. Trump is unfit to serve. His scapegoating of so many Americans, and his impulsivity, bullying, lying, admitted history of sexual assault, and utter lack of experience make him a danger to the Republic.
Secretary Clinton WON THE POPULAR VOTE and should be President.
Hillary won the popular vote. The only reason Trump “won” is because of the Electoral College.
But the Electoral College can actually give the White House to either candidate. So why not use this most undemocratic of our institutions to ensure a democratic result?)
    Thanks for listening…
Gets off soap box…gets cuppa fave brew – mwah, smooch for Tux…later!

PG, JJ “The Fall” is terrific. But I have been a Gillian Anderson fan since “X-Files” and seeing her in “Bleak House.”

You’re for sure not offending me JK as I am not an American. But someone must have voted for Trump as he did win. And I don’t understand how someone can win by numbers and not be allowed to take their place. The popular vote concept is one that I am not familiar with.

I was srsly disappointed when Justin won our election. His qualifications? Being his father’s son. No exp in politics, he was a high school teacher, which is great, but without his Dad he would have been a nobody. One who excels at spin. Just sayin’.

But there is something that I saw on CNN and found most offensive. Some “talking head” wasted 20 minutes taking apart Mrs. Trump. It was so “schoolyard.” Peeps don’t like Trump, well their prerogative. But to go on and an about his wife’s love for fashion and bkgd. Well not every First Lady had a college degree and a pedigree going back to the Mayflower. And every First Lady up to Michelle has worn designer clothes, goes with the job. I would have thought a producer would not have wasted viewer’s time. Off my soapbox now.

Doing some Hazeling. Srsly windy and chilly today. Then Knitting Circle. Sabbath candles get lit at 4:09 pm so in case I’m not back will wish all a gr8 Caturday!

Here’s another crossover. Leonard Cohen, a great Montrealer for whom I’ll be lighting a candle later today, reciting the poem “In Flanders Field”, written by John McCrae 100 years before the reading:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKoJvHcML

Dr John McCrae was a medical doctor who served as a battle surgeon during the Second Battle of Ypres (an extended battle in the mud, blood and pestilence that was so horrible that is played a significant role in driving Hitler mad). He died near the end of the Great War, of pneumonia, not a war wound. There was a great deal of disease due to the horrific living conditions in the trenches.

Good morning all. Love listening to eveyones’ thoughts on election. I am appalled at the pettiness of the media especially since they should just reporting the facts. Sadly, this is not the case anymore, especially when the media is bought and paid for by whoever has enough money and likes to promote their agendas. This is why I seldom watch any news, except for weather, and usually I get that from my phone or computer. Our nation is divided, and this is not news. Trumps supporters (not all) are good at rubbing our noses in it, forgetting that we had to listen to 8 years of whining and sour grapes. I can’t think that this man will bring unity, but I will be watching. COURAGE.

A wonderful, blessed Veterans day to everyone. The pics today are adorable and heart wrenching. LOVE them!
PG, you made me LOL with “your joints” cartoon!! Hahahahahaaa!

No matter who we voted for we should not let this election tear us apart. Granted, Justin doesn’t have any political experience but, at least, he’s cute. 😆

I love you all, and we can agree to disagree …. don’t want to offend, but I’m looking forward to a new change and a bright future ….. I pray for unity for all …. there is a reason we don’t discuss politics here, and I respect that ….

Well, I’m pleased to report, I’ve got 10 new pond residents …. I took my water sample to the pond guy and he said it was a green light to re-populate, I start over …. I got four 2-3″ ers, 2 fan tails and 2 speckled; and six 99 cent little guys …. Pond guru said they should all grow quite large and spawn a few times …. and so we begin a new!

How exciting AV! I started my pond in the beginning doing just what you did, I didn’t spend big bucks at all, but actually bought plain goldfish, a couple of fantails, and speckled ones (I can’t remember what those are called at the moment). They spawned and I ended up with the most beautiful long fins and I’m very proud of them. Most ‘fish’ people would cull the ones I think are pretty, but they are my wet pets and I love them just like my other pets. And they know me and greet me every time I walk out the door!

KZ, I know just how you feel! I love my wet kits! …. It truly broke my heart to gather all my dead babies out – they were so beautiful and had grown so big! 6 to at least 12-14″ all of them! …. and they started from just tiny little guys!

The four big ones (I say big relatively – 2-3″) will be a good base, and the 6 little 99 cent-ers less than 1″ will probably reproduce/spawn quickly, so more will populate, and the strong will survive. The eco-system, cycle of life is so amazing and fun to watch!

Hazel of course, at 16+ ” will be the Grand Dame/Godzilla of all, thankfully the bottom cleaners don’t eat the little guys

Yes, it is heart wrenching to have to net out your beloved pets. I had a big fish kill a few years back, and I mostly lost big ones as they are the ones that go first because of lack of oxygen. But I nursed one of the biggest back to health in a bucket of salt water, with adding fresh and helping heal her. I call her ‘Lipstick’ because she has big red lips!
It will be fun to watch them grow and prosper. I love watching fantails swim since they swim so ‘wiggly’! Since it is pretty warm where you live all the time, your fish probably spawn all year round!
Do you know the name of your Hazel? Is she a big black fish that looks flat? (Why oh why can’t I remember the names of these fish today?)

She is a Plecostomus catfish …. dark grey and looks like a small shark! She was about 2-3 ” when we got her, and sightings have been rare over the past 7 years because she blends in with the black bottom, but I stalked her two nights ago with a flashlight to make sure she was ok. And I was blown away at how big she was. I knew she was over a foot, but she’s easily 16″

That’s it! A Pleco, (for short) and they do well in warm water. I know some people up here have had them, but they have to remove them for the winter and put them in aquariums. I remember them saying how hard they were to find and once they did, they had pretty much outgrown the aquarium!! Thanks for jogging my memory AV… 😛

I never knew I didn’t know this much about fish ponds. I hope your new gang settles in nicely, AV.
