    Vicki, I ordered this and it was horrible – it’s still sitting in my pantry. I was SO disappointed. I mean, BaconSalt? Seems like a sure thing doesn’t it? It tasted a lot like Bacos, which I detest.

    Oops. My fault. I went into the site a little deeper; it is touted as a kosher, vegetarian, zero-calorie, zero-fat seasoning that makes everything taste like bacon. The Boston Globe cited: “How good is it? A few sprinkles revive lackluster mashed potatoes, just a dash on eggs adds another layer of flavor. It’s a surprisingly faithful mimic of the sweet, salty, and smoky compounds found in good bacon, yet there’s no meat at all, making it both certified Kosher and safe for vegetarians pining for pork.” How does a vegetarian who has never had pork pine for something that simulates smoked pork? And for those who eat Kosher, Halal, and Ital diets, this isn’t even an option. I kinda opened my mouth and inserted my foot into this one.

    No no you didn’t – I was quite excited when it was brought to my attention by Dee a few months ago.

    The man-friend (who is Jewish) even had to laugh at it being Kosher. Of course, he’s not a very good Jew, he eats bacon, ham, ribs, etc. “Just don’t tell my mom” he’s been known to say. We tried it and both went ‘ewwwwwww.’
