Prince has not eaten in a while, so we took him for a check-up last night, and they took a blood test. He has Fatty Liver Disease, but its very minor, or just barely starting.

I looked up home remedies, and I may have to spend some thick money. We have already spent at least $1,000 dollars or more on Prince, but he is very happy and so far…. “Healthy”…. :/ If you have any, any, ANY ways to help him with fighting this liver disease, please come forward. We are desperate.

Bless you GGFG. I had a precious blue point siamese girl named Kerrie who had fatty liver disease. With careful management she lived a long and happy life! I had a very helpful vet who guided us every step of the way. Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do between episodes. Prescription food is important. But not much else to do in the way of therapeutic intervention. Lots of love seems to be the key!

http://www.thecatsite.com/t/233610/fatty-liver-need-help is a post in a different forum about someone whose cat had fatty liver disease. Reading through that would likely be very helpful, there are people there who have gone through this before, and they know what works 🙂 AC (Auntie Crazy) posted links on that thread with several tricks to get a cat to eat.

There is also http://www.ibdkitties.net/fattyliver.html which is a great article (which includes many links at the end) about treating fatty liver disease. That article mentions giving B12 (which would be very helpful to, IMO) so here is an article all about the importance of giving B12: http://www.ibdkitties.net/B12.html

Also, if anyone is wondering how to prevent fatty liver disease (as well as a brief description of the treatment/signs of it) this is a good link: http://feline-nutrition.org/answers/answers-how-can-my-cat-avoid-hepatic-lipidosis

Prince MUST eat every day. Three cans of Fancy Feast a day. One in the morning, noon and night. If he won’t eat, sprinkle a little FortaFlora on top. If he still won’t eat then you must Assist Feed.

Chissus is right, Prince needs to eat. It is the only way to reverse the liver damage. Unfortunately, he probably won’t want to eat because he feels sick. If he were my cat I would have a stomach tube placed (see the link in your previous thread), but I am comfortable around feeding tubes…syringe feeding is another option, but much more difficult.
