One of my kittens looks like she isn’t going to make it. She started out great and gained weight well, but these last few days the other kittens are developing exponentially while she is still at around the 3 weeks old stage. She’ll be 5 weeks old in 2 days.

She refuses the bottle, a pipette, a syringe, everything. She did eat some kitten food that I pureed and liquified for her, but then she choked so viciously I thought I had killed her. I managed to force her to take some Nutri-Cal earlier. I noticed that there was an immediate difference in one of her siblings earlier on when I gave them Nutri-Cal, so we will see.

I don’t know though. She was so tired from refusing the pipette that she just laid down and didn’t even try to move when momma cat laid on her. Poor baby, I hope she makes it. It’s tearing my heart out.

Poor darling. Keep the Nutri-cal coming, and you could also try goats’ milk. I hope she makes it.

Good advice from everyone above. I wish I had something to add, maybe pedialyte. Hope baby starts feeling better.

Thanks everyone. She really looked bad after the Nutri-Cal, but she has perked up a little. I read somewhere that kittens around her age should get about 125 ml/day spread out 5-7 times a day. At 7 ml per feeding we’re a little behind 🙁 but I feel like there is hope after getting her to drink some formula.

I think everything will be okay. She doesn’t eat a lot, but it seems to satisfy her. She wants to eat too, so that is encouraging. I have also been trying to get the others started on kitten food, but they just don’t like it. I was holding out hope that if I could keep her hanging on long enough for the other kittens to start eating real food that she would nurse, but the truth is, she doesn’t want to. Cupcake (her aunt) laid down for her and she just halfheartedly attempted. She would rather catch the drips from the pipette, it’s easier! She gained .4 oz today, but man I had to force feed her a couple of times.
