Hello everyone! So everything has been going good with my now (approximately 8 week old kitten. We got her at around 4-5 weeks old and she didn’t have any problems at all since all she did was slept ate and play for a little. However, lately she’s been biting me and my boyfriend whenever and wherever and even pouncing on my ankles. She hisses and claws for no reason and I don’t know what to do… I was thinking about buying the feliway spray.. We haven’t given her any shots yet either since she’s just barely turning 8 weeks. Please help.

Oh and sometimes her biting isn’t enough to break the skin. She nibbles and it annoyingly hurts when she does it when she gets the chance

Hi Divine – your little one has discovered her hunting instinct. Try playing with her with a toy – never your hands – to keep her engaged in something she can sink her claws and teeth into. You’ll need patience, patience and more patience, but you will get into a routine where she will recognize toys are something she can attack. Stay away from negative reinforcement – that can make her fear you. Try a sharp “No!” when she attacks your ankles, and immediately give her a toy. Some kittens like their own toys to play with, others like you to play with them; those toys on a pole are great for mama-kitty interaction. Some kittens like both!
    Good luck!

    Welcome Divine to TDK land.

Yes, your girl will change her habit but it requires diligence on you and BF’s part. Always, use the toys never her hands. Purrhaps, you can get her a small cat tree for her to climb and hide in. Kittens enjoy playing in paper bags, but be sure the bag is not where somebody could step on it not knowing a kitten was inside. Also, don’t let your kitten play with plastic bags, as kittens tend to chew and swallow the plastic. Balls and toys should not be small enough to be inhaled or swallowed. Ping pong or practice golf balls (the ones with holes in them) are a good size and weight for kittens. Place the balls in a captive area, such as in a bathtub, for maximum fun. Or put one in an empty tissue box so your kitten can fish for it. Kittens under 6 months of age do not seem to notice catnip, so wait until your kitten is older to introduce that.

    What is your girl’s name?

My kitten is only less then a week old. She was found outside with no momma or siblings. How do I get her to stop crying. The only time she doesn’t is when she is being fed or asleep
