Thank you all for help in tips on getting this little one get rehabilitated from dying of starvation and a parasite. She’s feeling much better now and I’ve decided to name her Calypso. I gave her a bath today although she’s doing a great job at grooming herself she still smelled pretty bad. While she groomed herself on my lap I notice she had what looked like scabs and very dry patchy where she just tugged at and her fur came off of was very bright pink. Can this be attributed to her lack of grooming before I found her and while she was sick? I’ve heard of kittens getting burns from not cleaning themselves properly after meals and going potty, or should I be concern and take her to the vet for this as well while I get a 2nd opinion about parasites?

There are many reasons why she may have hair loss, but given what she’s been through it could be poor nutrition and parasites. This will clear up normally once she is eating well, and you have gotten rid of her intestinal parasites. If it doesn’t clear up, you will need another vet visit to determine what you are dealing with, none of which will be life threatening, but will take some kind of medicine to clear up. If it is mange, they can do a skin scraping to determine what kind or ringworm which isn’t really a worm but a fungal problem that can be cleared up with an over the counter fungal med. It’s so good to hear that she is feeling (and smelling) better mari ~ and I love the name Calypso!
