    Hey all,

I’m hoping those with grown up cats can assist with my queries?

When we first got Guts home, he he was so little. He was greasy and dandruff-covered, and he had a John Wayne type gait to his back legs, the vet put it down to poor diet. Now he’s sprouting at a rapid pace and looking so shiny ( well apart from his wee baldy bit ) We have him in a kitten-sized lidded litter box at the moment. How do you know when they start to outgrow their boxes, and how do you go about transitioning to a different box?

Charlie, there’s really no transitioning to it. Just get a bigger litter box, and a simple one too, not one that is really expensive and does weird stuff with the litter and the poo. Just ADD it for now, use the same litter, even put one of his poops in there. He will know what to do. My cats love the biggest litter box, even though I have others and they use them, they love the big one the best.

    Hi Charlie,

He should have an adult litter box now. Put some of the used litter from his current box into the new box so he’ll know what to do in it. I don’t know big your place is but it’s recommended there is one box for each cat plus one.

Thanks, was thinking that we should upgrade, it was the “small” of the options at the time, since he was quite little he could spin round in it, no problem. Now watching him dangling from the hanging coats in our hall, I realized what a lanky thing he’d gotten. They grow really quick, I think I’m going to have to start saving to buy longer scratching posts soon too… :S
