Hello everyone- i need some advice about feral kittens with diarrhea. my kitty is about two weeks old, maybe a little more, and hes had the runs since my parents brought him home a week ago.

we took him to the vet about three days ago. they cleared up an infection in the kittens eye and gave him some deworming paste. theyve also prescribed medication for diarrhea- Albon w/ Kaopectate, administered twice daily. they weighed him and he came in at 7.5 oz. we have another appointment in two weeks.

i first had him on Just Born formula but long story short, had to switch him to KMR liquid. i know that quickly switching foods can cause/worsen diarrhea but his stools didnt look any worse and he was doing just fine.

after the vet visit though, he started pooping without stimulation. ive started pooping him once every hour to prevent accidents but sometimes im just not quick enough. ive also noticed flecks of white but i assume those are just dead worms.

im starting to get worried as im afraid that hell become dehydrated. ive heard some things about Bene-bec and wondered if that would help? ive also heard things about mixing pedialite or chicken-Gerber baby food in with his formula. any advice would help. thanks!

I wouldn’t recommend any baby food, but the pedialyte is probably the best idea. You may want to try to get some canned pumpkin and puree it and add it to the formula, or put a little in their mouth. Make sure its canned pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling. I had a kitten with the same issue, after some pedialyte his diarrhea cleared right up.
