My dad is having surgery on Friday. They will be removing about 12 inches of colon and then putting him back together… from what I gather it’ll be a 3-4 hour surgery. He’s 82 and has been in better health. I would be grateful for any and all prayers and positive energy for him, my mom (who’s hand I’ll be holding that day) and the surgical staff. Oh, and a bit for myself as well. Thank you all…

I will keep your dad in my prayers. I will also be praying that you have the strength to calm your mother’s fears, and that the surgeon’s hands are guided by God. Take care of yourself and keep us updated when you can.

One Popoki, my brother in NJ has had this surgery–twice! The first time they removed a small section. Five years later his problems returned, and this time they removed 1/3 of his colon. That was last November. He is feeling well enough to joke about it, for instance saying that his favorite punctuation mark is a semi-colon. 😉

Sending out prayers for him, you, mom, the doctors, nurses and everyone involved.

Sending good thoughts and prayers your way. Let us know how it goes, okay, hon? Do make sure that you take care of yourself as well as your mom and your dad. It’s easy to forget that if you wear yourself down too much, you can’t help anybody. *hugs*

Lots of healing prayers and good thoughts for your dad and the rest of the family. Tonight pack a snack bag with lots of water and good protein snacks like peanuts and stuff like that so you and your mom can keep going and not have to roam the hospital.

You all are wonderful, amazing people. I’m reading all your posts at work… big mistake.. LOL Trying to keep the tears from running down my cheeks.

Dad seems to be taking it all in stride. Mom won’t say how she feels; I think that’s a generational thing, but I know that she is worried. I asked her a simple question the other night (what color dresses did your bridesmaids wear?) and she couldn’t remember. Granted, that was 55 years ago, but it was something I knew she’d remember. Why did I ask? you ask. I’m planning a 55 year anniversary lu’au for them. I will be doing a special hula for them (‘N Dis Life by IZ) and I will be wearing white… wanting to contrast that with the color her bridesmaids wore.

OK.. gotta get back to work. Mahalo nui loa (thanks very much)
