Everyone is busy getting back to work or maybe they have today off. I would have liked to have today off. So would my kitties. I did laundry yesterday and washed some blankets. I put one of them on the bed and you would have thought I put velcro on it. My cats were so happy to sleep on a nice clean blanket that they were there most of the day. I have several blankets and comforters that I circulate onto my bed.

Some darjeeling tea and a cranberry orange filled scone (my Mom makes this wonderful cranberry sauce), please.

Good morning everyone — Karin, glad to hear you had a laid back Sunday, and also glad to hear a smile in your voice. We all want the best for you. Life is good and so much fun!

I’ll take a chai latte — my favorite. And if anyone wants something we serve in the South with a sweet breakfast — I have salmon cakes I made this morning. They’re fabulous with eggs, grits and sweet rolls or scones!

I have just got home from school. Came home early because I am so tired (first day back after illness). Large cup of strong hot chocolate please and an eccles cake.

    #106311

Well apparently when I am out of the office, it signals crisis time. ARGH!! I’m still trying to get it all fixed. More coffee please. This time, make it Irish

    #106312

Now I’ve finished my hot chocolate I’ll join you in an Irish coffee MM or perhaps a Napoleon coffee (with brandy) would be good……

I’m back at work, too. Boy those 4 days went fast! I’m in serious need of caffeine. A mocha would be nice, and some French Toast, maybe?

I’m having a belated Thanksgiving with Boyfriend tonight, in addition to the one I had Thursday, so I really ought to save my appetite, but I’m starving!

I want to have an iced coffee today. And a huge Banana Split, please.

To say thank you to all the staff who covered for me while I was off school with the dreaded P…….y I took in cake and chocolate today (lemon drizzle cake, date and walnut and chocolate cake – Cadbury’s Dairy Milk chocolate). As our staff is made up of complete gannetts there is none left to share with you I’m afraid, but I’ll get some more for you lot tomorrow!

Polly’s Mum…that was so thoughtful of you to take goodies into work for everyone, when you were the one off sick.

Just curious…You don’t do Thanksgiving. Do you do Christmas? And if so,do you celebrate for the same reasons as the Americans do? I’m so niave.

    #106321

Yes, we have Christmas – but Thanksgiving is purely an American tradition. We do have Harvest Festival (no fixed date each Church celebrates when it wants around Harvest time) but there is no special meal/holiday involved. People just take gifts (often food, but NOT fresh food because of the problems of storage before distribution)to Church to be distributed to the needy.

Our traditional Christmas dinner is stuffed turkey with vegetables (especially brussel sprouts)roast potatoes, bread sauce, cranberry sauce and gravy. Pudding is of course Christmas pudding with cream and/or brandy butter and/or custard. Then come the mince pies then the groaning because you’ve eaten too much again!

Happy to shatter your illusions,Susie! THAT does NOT fit the definitions of “naive”. There’s a HUGE difference between ignorance and naivete.Ignorance is the state of being uninformed.Naivete actually pretends to know something it does not. It’s much easier to fill a clean bucket than to refill a dirty one.

    OH,and I’ll just grab a decaf green tea w/milk & honey.Good morning all!(West Coast,anyways 😀 )

Sorry didn’t answer the whole question.

Christmas in UK is still technically a Christian festival and there are many of us who celebrate the birth of Christ at this time, but being a very multicultural society, there are also loads of Brits who still celebrate at Christmas time and enjoy giving and receiving presents but do not relate the occasion to Christianity at all. There have even been a few attempts to change the name of Christmas to something less Christian, but as yet they have all failed miserably!
