Is it possible to become a crockpotaholic? I got a new recipe book and can not seem to put it down. Last weekend was the “meatball stew”, tonight was “creamy salsa chicken” and tomorrow is “chili soup”. I have yet to figure out what we are taking to a potluck on Monday but I bet it will be from our crockpot…

OOOOOOOH! I’m not sure what a PDF is but I’d sure like some crockpot recipes Alicia! =) Crockpots make things clean and easy! Now if I could just figure out how to make hamburgers in one! =)

There is a hamburger dip and a hamburger soup in this book…

You will have to copy and paste, Alicia. It didn’t come through with direct links 🙁

I’m doing chili in the slow cooker tomorrow. I had to look forever to find a recipe that used dried pinto beans instead of canned beans but I finally found one!

I love the liners, but I heard they were being discontinued, rats!

my book recommends using vegetable spray inside to help prevent sticking of meat on the bottom in some recipes…

    Sure thing!

    Slow Cooker Chili

Be sure to use the high setting or the beans will not cook properly.

    Ingredients

1 cup dried pinto beans (Alicia, I soaked mine overnight although it didn’t say to)

    1 quart tomato juice

    1 can tomato paste

    1 large green pepper

    1 large onion

    4 garlic cloves

    2 Tbl chili powder

    1 pound ground beef

    1 tsp salt

freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Sort and rinse beans to remove any stones. Add to slow cooker.

Chop onions, green pepper, and garlic. Add to cooker.

Mix 1 tsp salt into the meat and saute until no longer piink. Drain fat adn add meat to cooker.

    Add remaining ingredients.

Cover and cook on high setting for about 6 hours. About 30 minutes before serving, taste to determine if more salt or chili powder is needed.

I also added 1 tsp of cumin, 1 tsp of oregano and 1 tsp ancho chili powder.

    It’s smelling good!
