    Not knowing what is wrong can make things like this harder to handle. I pray that the vet will find out what is wrong with Cowboy soon, and that it is something that can be treated without much stress on either of you.

    I add my AMEN to what the other TDKers have said.

    I am sure that I cannot be as eloquent as anncetera 2. I have lost a kitty a year form the past 5 (they were all 15 or older – but its never long enough); so I completely understand your feeling of not being able to go through this kind of hurt again…Our human and furry family will pray for Cowboy ( love his name). I am sure that God is listening to your prayers, sometimes I think that he wants some of the most precious ones for himself…can’t say I blame Him. But I will certainly pray that God sees your pain and knows that Cowboy needs to be with his Mama a bit longer.

    Be strong Cowboy!

    Thanks Joan…Listening to everyone’s prayers and encouragement is so inspiring. Thank you for just being YOU! I sure wish Susie would get news from the vet soon. *tapping toe* It’s 4:00 in Ca. now so I imagine the vet should be talking to her anytime now.

    You all are such wonderful people. I couldn’t have met a more beautiful bunch. We have Cowboy back home for now. The vet is going out of her way to get the blood test results to us tomorrow morning. So we really won’t know anything until then. Another sleepless night for me. They hydrated the max out of him today because he looked alot more plumped(of course that’s temporary). Gave him another injection of biotics & also gave him a shot of cortisone. That’s basically all that can be done till the results of the blood tests. I picked up some baby food & will be force-feeding him until then. I just hate having to do that to a cat that’s already feeling lousy,but,there’s no other way. So Karen,you’ll have to keep toe-tapping. Chuck’s very upset about it. Cowboy has always been a man’s cat. Cowboy adopted him immediately. His past owner was a male & the farm that he was caught from,well,the owner of the farm was male & was feeding about 60-70 ferals living in & around his barn. I guess in a way,Cowboy was lucky to have been rescued. He peed at the vets tho(lol)

    Oh Susie!! I’m so glad to hear a positive report!!! YIPEEEE! Poor Chuck.. his little buddy is havin’ such a hard time..How was his temp? This afternoon. I’ll just bet it’s just taking some time for the antibiotics to kick in and kick a** on whatever infection he has. That’s great that the vet is working so hard on his blood work for you…Bless her little heart!!

    Susie..How do you force feed him? I’ve heard others say they’ve had to also but I never asked how it’s done. I guess I kinda figured it may be done with a needleless syringe of some sort. ???

    Karen…we don’t know what’s wrong yet. We won’t know till tomorrow morning what’s going on. There is no change in him except that he’s hydrated for now. He’s still only had the equivalent of about 2 tbls. of food in him since last Sunday. I don’t mean to bring you down,but,I don’t want to get your hopes or mine up to much. As for feeding him,I do use a needleless syringe. He now fights with me because I’ve had to do it so many times. I just hate doing it cuz he already doesn’t feel good. I’m switching to a smaller syringe tonight so I shoot less into him at a time,but,I’ll have to do it more often. Poor guy. I think I’ll feel better about doing it tho now that I have some baby food to give him. I think he’ll be getting alot more nutrition in him. In fact I’mgoing to sign off for abit here so I can go give him his dreadful feeding. Plus I have to go make sure the feral kittens still have dry bedding out back. The storm we had today was a total pounder. We had branches breaking off on some of our trees. One landed on Chuck’s boat but luckily didn’t damage it. Thanks for all your well-wishes & Prayers. You keep me hoping. I’ll cross my fingers as well for the little guy.

    Susie I know it’s hard to forcefeed them but sometimes we have to. I had to help a kitty of mine eat for a while until she was strong enough to eat for herself,then she got her appetite back and lived for many years.My MinnieCat lost weight quickly due to losing her mother who she was VERY close to,her liver was having problems and with the build up of toxins in her blood she lost her appetite and was nauseated. With feeding her,her liver results went back to normal and she recovered. I’m not trying to scare you,I don’t know what’s wrong with Cowboy. I’ll continue to pray for you and Cowboy.

    Hi Susie, I’m new to this website, but I was so moved to read about Cowboy. I am so glad that he is home, a comfort to all I”m sure. God willing you will get some answers tomorrow.

    I have a had a lot of experience with syringe feeding. Four years ago my 15 year old baby , Jenny was diagnosed with nasal cancer. She was absolutely fine, except that she refused to eat. According to the vet, often if they cannot smell, they will not eat. I was determined that she would not die of starvation in my home. It took a lot of effort, determination and research, but I succeeded. At first it was a painful 45 minute ordeal. But soon it was a 5 minutes twice a day necessity that Jenny became well used to. I continued to feed her exclusively for 14 months until she had other problems because of the cancer. It was comforting to know that she never went hungry and never lost weight, in fact she gained a pound!! Anyway, the bottom line is that it can be done. Of course , you need to follow medical advice…but for now I wonder whether you can ask whether it’s OK for Cowboy to get Nutrical ( a high calorie paste you can get at the pet store) Most kitties love baby food and it is easy to give , but the nutrirional value is low.

    Well, we will continue to cheer and pray for Cowboy. I hope that he has a good night and that you can get a little sleep. All the best.

    May I join prayers for you & Cowboy…

    Anyone out there who is Catholic, ask St. Therese if she has a little

    cat-sized miracle to spare. They say nothing is too small or too big for

    St. Therese to handle…

    Susie – I am glad to hear that Cowboy is back home and at least is hydrated. I’m sure that your feeding him is helping as well (thanks Tigerlilly for the encouraging words about syringe feeding!) Hopefully you’ll be hearing from the vet soon! I’m still sending prayers, and even though I am not a Catholic, I will ask St Therese for a couple of cat-sized miracles – one for Cowboy and one for little earless Eeyore! Loads of hugs to you and Cowboy! {{{HUGS}}}
