I’ve read that Clavamox is used for treatment of the skin and soft tissue. I have to give it to Lacey but I am confused. I took her to the vet because she was sneezing. She’s sneezing a lot less now but her right eye looks very slightly smaller than her left and it looks like she has a small pinkish color on the bottom of her eye (not on the eye itself, on her skin). It might just be me being a paranoid owner but I don’t want to take her to the vet and have nothing wrong with her and waste money. Have any of you ever had to give your cat Clavamox? PLEASE HELP!

It sounds like it is all part of her cold. But is there any way she could have injured that eye? You do not see any blood around there, do you? Do you have any saline (for contact lenses) that you could flush her eye out with?

Both my boys have been on clavamox for colds/upper respiratory infections. It’ll help Lacey, I’m sure, just may take a few days.

It is my understanding that many of the same organisms (viral and bacterial) can cause conjunctivitis as well as an upper respiratory infection. Clavamox covers common skin and mouth/respiratory pathogens in humans, and I have given it to Polly before for sneezing/URI.

Currently, my “kitten” is on tobramycin eyedrops; he was squinting his left eye and the conjunctiva (inside of the lids) was reddened with prominent vessels. Is this what you are seeing? (However, he has not sneezed once and has reddened gums; my husband can’t remember what they’re treating him for, but it is something different from the usual URI.)

How many days has Lacey been on the Clavamox? If she’s just started recently, I would call the vet and mention it/see what they think; I suspect that they might say, wait a few days and bring her back if it gets worse,
