Hi everyone! A rare little chunk of down time for me, so I just wanted to check in. Nothing too exciting is going on here outside of the usual sleep (sometimes), eat, grad school. I miss everyone!

Did we ever hear back about Cheri? I read the thread when it was posted that she was in the hospital but didn’t have time to post and lost track of it.

Hope everyone and their kitties are doing well!!

(PS- Kilroy I am jealous you got to see Les Mis so early. I can’t wait to see that movie)

GINI!!! (((Gini))) How are you? How are the boys and the boyfriend? We haven’t gotten an update on Cheri so far 🙁

How much longer before you get your life back (aka finish school)?

Hi! 🙂 The boys are doing well. Taco was sick about a week ago and randomly threw up 6 times, but after that he was completely fine. Maybe he had a tummy bug or found something funny to eat. Feeny is the same old Feeny! Mike is doing well too. It’s a busy time of year, but we are both good and happy I forget if I mentioned or not that we got engaged in July 🙂 We’re thinking sometime this summer possibly for a wedding but haven’t gone in to specific details yet. There just hasn’t been time!

I finish school up for this semester in 1 1/2 weeks so I get a beautiful 4 week break, and after that I go back until May when I graduate for good! I can’t wait. These 15 hour days are killer. Working is going to seem so easy compared to it!

How are you and Mr. K and Georgie?

We’re good, and yes, I seem to recall some mention of an engagement 🙂 So happy for the 2 of you.

Glad Taco got over whatever it was; George has been chewing on one of our plants since we brought it in from the balcony & I can’t get Mr. K to keep the bedroom door closed to keep George away from it. Grrr.

Good luck with the rest of your semester. Hang in there, May is right around the corner! (OK, I’m sure it doesn’t feel that way right now).

Hi all!…. checking in to say hi and hope everyone has a nice afternoon. Gini, long time no see! ….. good to hear you & the boys are doing well – I have two graduations in the Spring also – one from law school, one from UCF. Both have done very well, and excellent futures ahead of them!

Afternoon all, another hot sunny day here but with winds increasing in strength and possible rain later.

Kilroy, thanks for your reply on the crane, Mr MS was wondering what was happening.

Buttons, I hope you feel better soon.

So great to see Gini even if it was a fleeting visit. I’m glad Taco and Feeny are fine.

Joan, keep that fire stoked or Leela will get grumpy.

Afternoon MS – sounds like the weather doesn’t know what to do today.

I kept the fire going for my little girl all afternoon. She got mad at me for a bit when I cornered her to give her meds, but seems to have gotten over it. I don’t know why she’s complaining – most of the meds ended up on the floor! However, we’ve noted that she’s less sneezy, yay!

Yay for Leela being less sneezy. Who wouldn’t be when sitting by the warm fire and being fussed over.

Yes, our weather here is very changeable at the moment, Spring type weather still hanging around. We have a quick & nasty little front roaring up the country with KK having thunder storms last night and it’s heading our way now. I’m wanting to plant my beans I’ve been growing inside as they are getting leggy but afraid the winds will batter them. Mr MS and I built a wind shield for them but I don;t want to waste 10 days of growing. Also hoping the bird nest I discovered in my camellia tree hangs in there as it is full of chirping wee blackbirds.

Oooh, hope everything stays put, especially the baby birdies. Perhaps a few more days of indoor growth will give the beans enough strength to withstand the wind, with the wind shield’s help. You didn’t have much of a spring, did you?

Our Spring was a typical Spring, a bit of all four seasons. We didn’t get a Summer lastyear though. We are getting a Summer this year from all the signs thankfully.

I’ll see what the winds do as the sun goes down as to whether or not I will plant out the beans. Much more time inside and they will be well over a foot tall.

    That’s some tall beans!

They are runner beans Joan, i have dwarf beans planted too but for the last 3 years their germination rate has been dismal to say the least so I decided to grow runners. I have the bean frame all set up just waiting for the beans.

My string bean plants didn’t do well this year…… of course, I’m a ‘rookie’ at the garden thingy, but I only got a few beans, and the plants didn’t seem to like the overly hot climate of Florida……… the bib lettcus and the collard/mustard greens did really well, as did the majority of my spices….. I’m going to replant in Spring (around March here) and see what I can do next year……..

…… finished my chores today, and am having a nice relaxing night!….. going over to MIL’s new place tomorrow and helping hang pics and re-arrange….. Mr. AV sent pics from NYC today, is having a nice visit and will be home soon!…..

    AV, (waving) Hi ! !

You could probably grow all year round there.

I’m growing hearting lettuce like ice berg as well as Lebanese cucumbers.

Wow, the wind is getting stronger and more blustery as the rain gets closer. It’s still a warm 21C day and all the doors facing away from the wind are open but it’s brutal out there.

    Enjoy your evening with MIL.

*waves* back madly………. MS, I’m not sure why my string beans didn’t work out, other than maybe it was too hot??!!??

…… for me being the ‘polar’ opposite from you on our planet, how funny that our weather is so similar!….. warm and windy here today too! LOL

…. I still want to try Deb’s ‘hanging’ tomatoe plants…….. should keep those BAD squirrels away, and hopefully produce some lovely fruit! 🙂

…. and I have to ‘brag’…. tonight, I made the most wonderful risotto for dinner!….. Mr. AV doesn’t like it, so I only make it when he’s out of town…. Son loved it!…… shitakke mushrooms, parmasean reggiano, fontina, fresh thyme, a little onion …….. so FREAKING good!

Yes it is odd how our weather is so often very similar, not just the temperatures but the conditions too.

I would love to try the upside down tomatoes but don’t have a sheltered enough spot to hang them.

…. I’m thinking my verandah (large covered porch, so common in these 100+ victorian homes like mine)….. indirect light…. easy to water with the hose…..

That should be fine AV although some direct sunlight would be better.

I used to sit on just such a veranda when I was young and staying with my grandparents. My cousin & I would ‘picnic’ on the veranda with tiny sandwiches and pink milk(milk and red food colouring). Of course it was milk straight from the cow on the farm and tasted so delicious. We would be sat next to a pile of pumpkins and boxes of walnuts all stored up for the winter ahead.

oh, what a nice memory, MS!…… My grandparents also lived in a similar home, I think that’s one of the reason Mr. AV and I bought and restored this one!…..

…. the plants would get at least a couple of hours of direct light if I hung them on the eastern edge of the verandah…….. my house faces north/south, and we’re on a corner, so the eastern edge gets unobstructed direct sun until it passes over the top of the house……….. my garden is on the eastern side, for the same reason…..
