    Yes Tux, it’s Caturday!

Today we celebrate this popular broth made from clams, onion and potato. It’s believed the New England style of chowder was introduced by French, Nova Scotian, or British settlers and was common dish in the area by the 1700s. By 1836, it was served in the Boston at Ye Olde Union Oyster House (www.unionoysterhouse.com). If you’re in Beantown, check it out. Naturally, kits love seafood.

I saw “The Great Wall” today. It had warriors and nasty critters to be dispatched. Now I’m watch “A Haunting at Silver Falls” which is based on true events.

All the kits are snoozing so it’s off to bed for me. Cya and have a happy~

Good morning PG, and all TDKers that follow. I’m heading off to the TDK patio, where it’s not snowing sideways like it is here and I am holding out my bowl for a steaming helping of clam chowder, with soda crackers on the side, YUMMMMM! Heavy on the clams please! I might even sit in the hot tub for a while and let the kits give me a pedicure. I am in need of one seriously!!

I’ll bet the birds that were enjoying this mild weather here, are wondering WTH?!! Winter is trying to grab a hold again here, but it won’t last. The ones who visit my feeders and chowing down heavily this morning!

Didn’t get to see Grimm last night as the storm hit right when it was airing and the satellite lost signal. One show a week we watch and it storms when it’s on? So we will be watching via computer when Mr. KZ can spare an hour! 😛

Good morning! So New England clam chowder has a creamy consistency, and Manhattan clam chowder has more of a tomato broth. I enjoy both. Sometimes it’s a crapshoot when ordering it out because some places skimp on the clams and put more potatoes in. It seems the closer you are to the ocean, the more likely there will be lots of clams in your chowder!
It is still mild here, with rain and t-storms expected later. My hometown animal shelter is having an adoption event at the local feed farm. Thankful that the rain is expected to hold off till later so maybe there will be a good turnout and some adorable babies will find their furrever homes!

Good morning from another scorching day, it’s Sunday morning and I am taking it easy – so far.
HRH has had her Sunday morning scrap of bacon followed by raw beef chaser and has wandered to wherever today’s favourite sheltered spot may be. Mr MS is working and I do have finishing off the vege garden in my sights for later.
No crossover pic, seems tortilla and clam chowder are not close friends.
Clam chowder, I have never tried it, mainly because I like my clams or cockles as we call them here either raw or lightly steamed until they open and then eaten as the come from the shell. I have the most wonderful memories from my childhood of camping at the beach in a farmers paddock and as my birthday falls during the Summer holidays it was nearly always spent at the beach. In the evening of my birthday my family and our friends we camped with and anyone else from the camp would gather on the beach and cook our clams and other shellfish on an old piece of roofing iron over a fire until they opened and then we would dip them in malt vinegar and slurp them from the shell. Simple yet delicious and you can’t beat fresh seafood, a beach fire, friends and a starry night for perfection.
    😀 🙂 😀 🙂
It’s not easy to find pics for this topic.

PG , love the fried clams pic.
KZ, sideways snow. Time you got the cybermobile over here. The sun umbrellas are up on the large deck to give you shade at the table, there is something cold in the fridge. You can kick back and relax in the warmth. I hate it when a storm hits or rain blanks out the tv reception just as you are sitting down for a favourite show.
    😡
Hi JJ, while I was looking for pics I came across many different clam chowder versions. I hope the adoption event is successful, furever homes and weather.

There is also fish chowder, also for anyone who has an allergy to shellfish or who doesn’t eat it for religious or other reasons:
https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1898/chunky-fish-chowder That is just one recipe among many, chosen because BBC recipes tend to be dependable.

Poured all day in my n’hood, but as I spent the day more or less fast asleep, well the pounding rain cozied up the place.

So much for predicted unusual high of 14 degrees – did not happen, but sensed that it wouldn’t – we might even get some snow!It was fun wearing shoes instead of boots for 2 days.

Clam Chowder not being on my list of foods that I can nom on, I’ll opt for MS’ clowder – any of the quartet of squeee-able kits. 😉

I get so annoyed when the satellite goes out. It’s way up in the sky how is the storm affecting it? Yes, I know how it works…

I hope every baby found their loving furever home, JJ!

I perfurr the NE Clam Chowder but there aren’t many places to get the fresh taste in Colorado. 😐 Raw Clams and Oysters just don’t do it for me. Of course, I grew up in the Southwest so seafood was not big on the menu. We used to have fish chowder though. That’s an interesting recipe Lagatta, thanks.

I hope you got a nice breeze to break up the heat, MS. I need a clowder!!

It’s good you got to rest during the rain KJ. Do you mind my asking Are you allergic to shellfish or is it a diet thang?

Don’t mind your asking at all PG. It’s a kosher thing. Shellfish are 100% not kosher. Kosher fish must have fins and scales, and there are exceptions, and I am not a rabbi/authority, so please never quote me. I either buy fish with kosher certification or at n’hood kosher fish market. In fact catfish are not kosher. Not even this one – thank goodness – LOL.

I’m not for the most part a “softy” but when I see lobsters frolicking in tank in supermarket, and I see peeps selecting one for dinner, it gets at me. I know, I do eat fish (not meat or chicken) and they were swimming at some point, but this is too up close for me.

Well slowly but surely I’m succeeding at challenging knitting project, takes discipline not to just continue throughout the night, but with 4 more rows to go, and that’s for both sleeves, I do not want to have to do a re-start. Mgr at Knitting Circle store agreed that it’s hard to not have to re-start if mistake is made.

I’m going to take soothing hot shower then read my ‘way creepy classic novel “The Woman in Black” for a bit.

Tomorrow the usual as in gym then other stuff. Strangely I find that I am lingering more in locker room as I am in such a terrific location, so private and with a huge lockerette. Others not so fortunate as in storage area the size of a shoebox. Well, I basically get preferred treatment ’cause I send e-mails when I feel there is situation to be addressed, others tell me that nothing changes so they do not even try. I always get a response, and that’s my way of handling things. Esp when there are other things way beyond my control where I can do nothing ‘cept get through. Currently need to get through to middle of next wk with some modicum of keeping it together.

Geesh, my post just went *poof!* gone! My ‘puter has a gremlin who likes to play from time to time.
MS, we enjoy “clam bakes” complete with a fire on the beach and fresh clams. Extra yummy dipping them in melted butter!
The report is that two kitties were adopted and there is interest in others, yay!
Great that you get to enjoy the ‘VIP’ space at the gym, KJ. I think it’s great they did that for you, after all, you have made them aware of stuff they may not have addressed for lack of knowing – or thinking someone noticed.
It was supposed to be a rainy day but it held off until around 5, when it got good and stormy. I heated up some leftover veggie soup and made grilled cheese sandwiches, purrfect for a stormy, windy, rainy night!
