Good morning! Soup or friends….I like that. Thanks for the pics, PG. I quickly adjusted to the FL routine of no such thing as soup weather. I make soup anytime….which is good since we’ve had even less cold weather that usual….yay for mild winters.

We started packing boxes yesterday. It took Eko no time at all to find the inside of a box and pose for a cute photo. :).

Have I shared that after a year of researching neighborhoods we decided to buy a house really close to the one we’re renting? In fact, if you could walk through creeks and across people’s yards it’s well under a mile. But by car it’s about 2 miles. But our new backyard is only a couple of lots over from the creek that is behind our current house. And another little creek runs behind our new neighbor’s house. So we’re hoping we’ll still get all the same birds. The little creeks make for the best bird watching.

    Hi ECB,

It’s nice to buy a house in a neighborhood you already like and know your way around. That’s make the transition easier for the hoomins anyway. I hope you post Eko looking adorable in the box. 😉

If I’m in an cold climate I expect snow, snow and cold. Otherwise, mild winters are OK. Usually, birds will follow the food so put out feeders.

I don’t envy you packing but be careful.

Yep Eko, looks like you’re moving again! I’m so happy to hear you’ve found a house you like that’s relatively in your current neighborhood, ECB. Welcome to home ownership! You sound like a landlord’s dream renter, so caring for your own home should be pretty similar and good for your way of life. With, of course, the mortgage payment instead of rental. Plus, when you have to fix something, you can upgrade or change as you see fit. So happy for you!

I love making soup! It snowed on Tuesday, so I made a vegetable beef soup. I realized afterwards that I could have skipped adding the beef, since it was made with a vegetable broth base. I added potatoes, celery, carrots, a few tablespoons of butternut squash sauce, a small can of V-8 low sodium and a dash of onion seasoning. It tasted way better than any canned soup!

It’s been pretty cold around here, so it is certainly soup weather. Even with the wood burner going, the upstairs heat kicks on from time to time. The sun is out though, so the JJ crew are sunning themselves, with Star currently commanding the chair with the cozy wool blankie. And to no surprise, Dewey has found a comfy napping nook in the house!

Awww, Eko is adorable! Exciting news on your move, and glad that you like where you are and you aren’t moving far.

I’m caught up on Grimm and have to say I’m loving this season!! The show isn’t on long enough, as I could watch Grimm for hours and not get bored. I hope they were truthful and wrap up all lose ends and not leave us hanging. Mr. KZ likes the show after Grimm, Emerald City, but I don’t like it at all. So we record it and he can watch it whenever. The first show wasn’t too bad, but I don’t see any redeeming qualities in any of the characters and can’t figure out what the purpose of any of it is. Oh well.

We have been having lots of soup this winter, it’s good that Mr. KZ loves soup. It’s good for the soul!

It’s a long weekend here to celebrate Waitangi Day the signing of our founding document in 1840 and the temperatures are celebrating too. Stinking hot in the high 20’s and into the 30’sC in some areas.
The lawns have curled up and died, very crunchy underfoot now and most of my gardens are kaput too.

Fun theme today! and fun pics! I also like “friends or soup.” 😉

Mr. Eko looks all ready for the move, ECB!

PG, “Vikings” is getting weirder by the season. With Ragnar gone, well, I don’t know. Characters have a neat way of solving diffs – just kill the other person. And Linus Roache was for sure milking his scenes. As for what portends with Jonathan Rhys Meyers joining cast, show is getting so way off track history wise it’s entering realm of fantasy land. I could have easily done without the closing image. I’ll prob still watch the show though.

My guts weirded out on me last night and today, even the most clear soup might not sit well. 🙁 Don’t think that I slept enough either, so that is in plan for tonight.

Guess lots of peeps will be watching “Superbowl?” Seems to be a big deal. Not for me though.

You might like to look into the Puppy Bowl, though KJ. And there is a halftime with kittens. The wee beasties are so cute.

I’m still watching X-Company about the Canadian secret agents during the Second World War, though it is getting harder and harder to watch and at least two episodes had me utterly in tears, though I have useless degrees in history and can guarantee that all that happened and much worse. The team has headed into Poland now, so that gives us an idea… 😥 There is a great attention to detail though, which is a pleasure, and there is some excellent acting.

As for soup, I make stock often in my slow-cooker. Usually chicken bones (and sometimes some chicken legs simmered for richer stock, but retrieved when they were still flavourful) but I braised a duck a couple of weeks ago, so I had the bones from that as well as others. I’m going to make a very simple soup tomorrow, with the stock and some fast-cooking vegetables such as nappa cabbage, and glass (bean thread) noodles. I also have some miso, and the last bits of the duck. Also, herbs and frozen spinach if I want it greener.
