For all our TDKers in lands hither and yon-tomorrow is when astronomy enthusiasts can witness a lunar event that takes place only once in a blue moon: a blue moon.

By its modern definition, a blue moon is the second full moon in a calendar month, an astronomical phenomenon that occurs about once every 2.7 years.

I believe I will celebrate with a Blue Moon Ale 😉

Thanks for that PG. It was on TDK that I learned the definition of a blue moon a few years back. I have no idea why I hadn’t questioned the phrase before then. It has always been used by my Mother as another way of saying ‘no, not for a long time’. As in “Mum can I has rollerskates?” and the reply would be “When we have a blue moon”. Despite my checking the moon regularly it was never blue. 😥
The above was an actual conversation and I never got rollerskates. 🙁
Also resisted the urge to add am earworm song – guess what of. 😉

I was tempted to add earworm vid this am as well – kept myself in check – until now that is – LOL.

Tks PG – now I have a clearer understanding of time-honoured saying “once in a blue moon.” Also, I guess that the Moon isn’t made of green cheese. 😉

The moon is beautiful tonight! If there’s something you’ve said to yourself you only do once in a blue moon, the time has come to do it!

Do I get to howl??? Nope, that would be at the full moon. And no I won’t post vid of that being “of London.” Can’t see the moon from either of my windows – big city living. Will take your word on it’s beauty, Joan. Night all!

KJ, such restraint. I added an earworm on the Cafe, I didn’t have any restraint.

I hope I can see it tonight. I live on the top floor of a typical Montréal triplex (with the outside staircases that are quaint and pretty, but dangerous in wintertime).

Renzo spent last night out in the back garden; not worth mentioning except for the fact that he is 19 years old. He was pepped up and happy very early this morning when he returned (but no, he no longer catches mice).
