it’s not my choice. my lease says 2 cats and that is what I have.
the landlord has given me a choice, either she goes or I face an immediate 3 DAY EVICTION. he sees her as smelly, destructive, and too active for me.
I have rented from him for 4 months and he calls me troublesome and would have never rented to me had he known about me. all I wanted was heat and light. now he is being forced to fix the furnaces and circuit panel boxes, which were dangerously unsafe and illegal. and he is also pissed about having to build a ramp for me. he is taking his revenge out on me via Bambina. anyway she goes tomorrow (dec. 1st). I am on my 100th bucket of tears…I was informed about Bambina the day before Thanksgiving. please pray for us…
p.s. I have also found out that he will not renew my lease in 8 months.

Do not do anything yet, Cheri. As long as it’s in your lease you can have two pets. If your landlord wants to change your lease, he has to give you an opportunity to appeal it. He can not evict you in 3 days!

    Good advice from PG, Cheri.
I don’t know about the laws in the US, but here we have a Rental Board that one can appeal to as well as tenant’s rights groups. I do know tht I specifically had a clause that I can have one cat added to the standard lease. I am not a lawyer, but I think that he must have to have serious cause to evict you, from the little that I see from media, it is even difficult to evict people whose pets are causing major problems, ie hoarding situations, where both humans/pets are at risk.
Another thought, perhaps you can contact some governing body, ie ASPCA and see if they have any experience with this sort of situation, and/or the shelter where you adopted your kitty from.
This is meant to help and I truly hope that it does. KJ

Can you investigate this further, Cheri? I know you don’t want to make waves but your landlord is harassing and that’s against the law.

Good that you’ve taken this further Cheri. Hope that you get results as landlord sounds like a *unfluffy four-letter word*.

Cheri, this isn’t the first time things like this have happened to you in dealing with landlords. I think it would be helpful for you to familiarize yourself with the Americans with Disabilities Act and know in advance what a person who rents you a residence can and cannot do, say, or expect.
