    Man Rips the Head Off Live Duck

    ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A Denver man who witnesses say ripped the head off a tame duck that lived in a pond in a hotel lobby is under arrest in St. Paul, Minnesota.

    A police officer says Scott Clark, a guest at the Embassy Suites hotel, cornered the duck early Saturday, ripped its head off and turned to onlookers and said: “I’m hungry. I’m gonna eat it.”

    The officer says Clark was “allegedly drunk.”

    He’s being held on suspicion of felony animal cruelty. If convicted he could face up to two years in prison and be fined $5,000.

    A humane society official calls the incident “unconscionable,” but also criticizes the hotel for keeping live ducks in the lobby.

    Hope he gets the two years and a hefty fine too. If more abusers were sentenced to the limit of the law it might deter some of these events. Glad to see Minnesota has laws making animal cruelty a felony. Most states deem it only a misdemeanor to abuse animals.
