My wonderful, loving, adorable lap kittens are almost 4 months old. A little over a week and a half ago they pretty much ceased having any interest in their toys and all they want to do is snuggle and sleep and nurse/suckle.

Our girl, Phoebe, is a pretty good eater and has a bit more energy- but not much. Reynard, our boy, is extremely low energy now and essentially refused to eat much at all the past few days, and really the past week. Although it goes in waves- sometimes he will eat a bit of dry food, but he essentially refuses the wet food we give him. The strange thing is we have not changed the types of foods we’ve given them since we got them from their foster mom! They ate perfectly fine the first month they were with us.

We just took them to the vet last week right around when this was all first starting and he said they both looked fine and healthy. I am just worried. Kittens of this age should be playful and curious and HUNGRY! Does anyone have any advice on this?

You’re right. Kittens should be eating and playing like, well, kittens. I’m concerned with the vet. flippant attitude regarding your kits. Please call another vet and get a 2nd opinion. In the meantime, put a bit of Karo syrup on their lips. That should jump start their blood sugar. At that point, they should want to eat.

As far as pickiness, age has nothing to do with changing tastes of kits.
